Western Iowa American Legion Riders SW Iowa ALR takes pride in honoring and supporting veterans and their families through rides & events

Looking to join an organization dedicated to recognizing the hard work and dedication of our U.S Veterans? Southwestern Iowa Legion Riders meets on the last Wednesday of every month at Glenwood Legion Hall, just off 1st & Vine Streets in beautiful Glenwood, IA! Our meetings are open for all veterans or members looking for support - come by and see what we're about! The American Legion Riders are a

dedicated group of motorcycle enthusiasts who proudly serve their communities. Riding with pride, they can be seen participating in parades and motorcycling events to support the places where they live, work, and play. Members of the ALR come from the Legion, the Legion Auxiliary, and the Sons of the American Legion. The American Legion Riders were formed... ..to participate in parades and other ceremonies that are in keeping with the Aims and Purposes of the American Legion...to promote motorcycle safety programs and to provide a social atmosphere for American Legion members who share the same interest. ..to use our Association to promote and support programs of the American Legion. The American Legion Riders offer an atmosphere that promotes generosity, kindness and camaraderie - without the traditional Motorcycle Club rules or regulations. With its strong family-oriented values steeped in the same tradition as its parent organization: the American Legion; this is a great way to enjoy motorcycling while supporting your community at large!

Could use a little assist with the following. This was mentioned at last meeting.

James -
It's time for us to finalize plans for the Shenandoah Veterans Memorial Museum to host the Remembering Our Fallen memorial exhibit. If you recall, I asked for your assistance in organizing both The Legion Riders and The Patriot Guard for their participation. I envision a couple of things:

Sort of a small "Rolling Thunder" type presentation for the opening ceremony on Wednesday, June 24 at 4:00 PM. The exhibit will already be here and erected but I would like to see a staged police/motorcycle es**rt from the edge of town to the ceremony sight.
The exhibit and opening ceremony will be outdoors in the KMA parking lot on the west side of the museum building. I am leery of leaving the exhibit unsupervised overnight so I was hoping that your group(s) could volunteer teams of 2 individuals to chaperone on the nights of 6/24, 6/25, 6/26 and 6/27. You would have full access to the museum building accommodations including kitchen facilities and restrooms. If your team is unable to do this, please let me know as soon as possible so that other arrangements can be made.
Lastly, as a Gold Star Father, would you be willing to share a few brief remarks in the opening ceremony? I'm talking about less than 10 minutes scheduled in between The Star Spangled Banner and Taps/21 gun salute. If you are not comfortable performing that role, I understand completely, but I think it would be a fitting tribute to your son's memory.

I really appreciate the interest you have shown in participating in this event. I look forward to hearing back from you soon. Please shoot me an e-mail or give me a call at either 712-246-2029 (office but not on a regular schedule) or 712-215-1349 (cell, most always available).
