As you spend time together this weekend, please keep an eye on your neighborhoods. We have had several reports of burglaries within the last week. Please call us right away if you see something odd or curious. We have Deputies working 24/7. We need your help to catch these people. The non-emergency line is 320-634-5411. And as always, if there is an emergency, call 911.

Its that time of year again.

With colder weather on the horizon, the Pope County Sheriff’s Posse will once again be providing property checks for homes and cabins located in Pope County. For a monthly donation of $25.00 or a seasonal donation (November through March) of $100.00 the Sheriff’s Posse will, at least twice per month at random times, inspect the exterior of your property. In the event your property has been tampered with, Law Enforcement will follow up. If you are interested in the Posse’s service, please drop off the form found at this link: https://www.popecountymn.gov/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Property_Inspection_Service_Request.pdf

Today, we solemnly mark the second anniversary of the line of duty death of our beloved Deputy Josh Owen. Two years have passed since that tragic day when Deputy Owen made the ultimate sacrifice while protecting and serving the citizens of Pope County.

Deputy Owen embodied the true meaning of public service and commitment to duty. His dedication to our department, our community, and the law enforcement profession set a standard of excellence that continues to inspire us all. Josh served with honor, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to justice that made him not just an exceptional deputy, but an extraordinary human being.

To Josh's family - we want you to know that your extended family at the Pope County Sheriff's Office continues to stand with you. Your strength through these difficult years has been remarkable, and we remain committed to honoring Josh's memory and supporting you in every way possible.

To our community - thank you for your continued support as we navigate this loss together. The outpouring of love shown to our department and to Deputy Owen's family reminds us why we serve.

To our deputies and staff - we recognize the weight you carry as you continue to serve while honoring Josh's memory. Your resilience honors his sacrifice every day. Deputy Owen's spirit of service lives on in each of us who put on the uniform and carry forward the mission he valued so deeply.
