April 15 is a date that still hurts. It brings frustration, anger, sadness, and tears. There are moments it leaves me at a loss for words; with a weight I can’t explain and a knot in my gut that has no remedy. My heart continues to ache for his family, friends and coworkers. That feeling of helplessness still comes and goes for all of us and I can only imagine that it always will.
But we don’t stay in that place.
We remember Josh for who he was and what he stood for. He was a warrior for the weak, a shield for the defenseless, and a brother who stood shoulder to shoulder with us and wouldn’t hesitate to lead the way. His impact didn’t end that day, and it never will.
General George S. Patton once said, “It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather, we should thank God that such men lived.” Today, we do both. We feel the loss, but we are grateful for the time we had with Josh—for his service, his sacrifice, and the example he set for all of us.
The law enforcement family in this community have been blessed by your support and kindness and we thank you for standing with us.
Josh will never be forgotten. He will always be with us. We love and miss you brother.
