The Glenwood School District serves approximately 44 students PK-12, the district’s small class sizes, supportive community, strong fiscal position and spectacular natural setting translate to boundless opportunities. The district has 19 employees, an annual operating budget of $2.3 million, and excellent fiscal health due to sound budget management and consistent levy support from the Glenwood co
mmunity. All grades attend an attractive school facility constructed in 1982. Students at the elementary level are educated in multi-grade classrooms. Middle and high school students are currently on a seven-period day. Students enjoy the many benefits of today’s best computers and software, as well as opportunities provided by several vocational classes, advanced placement and online courses. Athletic and extra-curricular activities are offered either in-district or in cooperation with neighboring districts. The district belongs to the Educational Service District 112, which includes a Special Education Cooperative that attends to the district’s students with special needs. Recently we have a certificated teacher receive their CTE credentials, enabling us to offer classes in the Natural Resources field. Currently, we are offering Forest Management and Ecology to our high school students. The forests and grasslands around us, along with the abundance of animal and bird species that adorn our landscape, provide a living classroom for our students. We often take advantage of our landscape to provide students with hands-on, real-world learning opportunities outside of the classroom. Initiatives include course offerings connecting students with the area’s natural resources, revitalization of the high school’s varsity basketball program, and outside art offerings for our elementary students through the Columbia Center for the Arts.
