Wheeler Mourns Loss of Longtime Probate Judge

Wheeler County citizens, surrounding communities, judicial officials, and more are mourning the loss of longtime Wheeler County Probate/Magistrate Judge Jolinda Harrelson, who passed away on Thursday, August 6.Judge Harrelson dedicated her life to serving others, whether it be as a stay-at-home mother while raising her family, as a parts runner at Harrelson’s Diesel for several years, and as the Wheeler County Probate/Magistrate Clerk and Judge for 18 years. Judge Harrelson learned the ropes of presiding over cases in both the Probate and Magistrate Courts while serving as former Wheeler County Probate/Magistrate Judge Roy Braswell’s clerk for six years, before being elected to the office herself in 2014.She has served the citizens of Wheeler County faithfully with integrity, compassion, and dedication for 12 years, and only recently retired due to health issues...

🚨 MONDAY IS CUT-OFF DAY: WATER SERVICE DISCONNECTION NOTICE 🚨

The City of Glenwood is reminding residents with past-due water accounts that water service disconnections will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, August 17, 2026.

To avoid disconnection and additional fees, full payment of your current balance must be received no later than 3:30 p.m. on Friday, August 14, 2026.

💧 PAYMENT OPTIONS:
✨ Pay in person at City Hall
✨ Use the drop box
✨ Scan the QR code on your water bill to access the payment portal
✨ Pay online at [https://glenwood.epayub.com/](https://glenwood.epayub.com/) by selecting “Pay Online” and entering your account number

📌 IMPORTANT: If payment is not received by the deadline, water service will be subject to disconnection. Once service has been disconnected, full payment of the past-due balance, applicable late fee, and reconnect fee must be received by 1:00 p.m. on the day of disconnection to be eligible for same-day restoration. Payments received after 1:00 p.m. may result in service being restored on the next business day.

To confirm your account balance or the amount required to prevent disconnection, please contact City Hall at (912) 523-5223 during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

🚨 REWARD OFFERED FOR INFORMATION 🚨

The City of Glenwood is offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to the identification and prosecution of the individual(s) responsible for placing unauthorized objects into a manhole at 10 W. 6th Avenue, behind Apartment 200.

In addition to placing these objects in the manhole, the individual(s) left the manhole uncovered, creating an extremely dangerous public safety hazard. An open manhole poses a serious risk to anyone in the area, especially children, and could have resulted in severe injury or loss of life.

The City of Glenwood takes the safety of our residents seriously and is asking for the public's assistance. If you have any information regarding this incident, no matter how small it may seem, please contact the City of Glenwood or your local law enforcement agency.

Your cooperation can help hold those responsible accountable and prevent a similar incident from occurring in the future.

As your local representatives, we fully understand and share your concerns and frustrations regarding the current condition of our water system, as we are members of this community as well. Please know that we are taking every possible action to address and improve the situation.

As many of you may recall, we requested your written input in March 2026 to include with our grant proposal application. We are currently awaiting a response and remain hopeful that we will receive approval, allowing us to make much-needed improvements to our water system for the benefit of our entire community.

We sincerely appreciate your patience, understanding, and continued support as we work through these challenges together. The City of Glenwood remains committed to keeping residents informed and providing updates as additional information becomes available.
