The crew has completed its first roll to Montana since the crew was started in 2016. We definitely stayed busy during this roll. As the nation moves to Preparedness level 4, the crew will be ready for the next one. Thanks to and for coming out with us.

UPDATE: The Live Stream of Tim's return to Cody could begin at 2:30 p.m. MDT

Smokejumper Tim Hart will be making his final journey home to Cody, WY tomorrow, June 6th, 2021, at approximately 3:00 p.m.

Tim passed away due to injuries sustained during a jump on the Eicks Fire in southern New Mexico.

A procession of fire and agency vehicles will es**rt Tim and his family from Choice Aviation to Ballard Funeral Home.

The community is asked to show their support by lining the streets, along the highlighted route - bringing Tim and his family back to Cody. Tim Hart loved living in Cody, WY with his wife, Michelle and pup, Dash, he was an employee of the Custer Gallatin National Forest

*While we plan to have a live stream on this FB page tomorrow, there have been cell carrier issue in Cody today. If we do not have the ability to live stream, Tim’s homecoming will be recorded and shared on this page later.

Tim is a smokejumper who lives here in Cody, WY with his wife Michelle. While jumping a fire in New Mexico he sustained several serious injuries and was flown to a hospital in El Paso where he remains in critical condition. He and Michelle are going to have a tough road in front of them for awhile.

An important element of our program’s success is the welcome we have received from the hotshot crews of the Rocky Mountain region since our crew’s inception in 2016. Probably none more often than our neighbors from the Bighorns.

Looking at the map while holding a stretch we'd burned. At this point we'd handed off the burn show to if I remember correctly. It's fairly normal to do hand offs during firing operations. Realistically one crew could continue burning but burning is more fun and engaging than being behind and holding so it's a good way to more fairly divide the workload and keep everyone engaged.
