The West Glocester Fire Department has been operating at a brush fire in the Durfee Hill Management Area, in the vicinity of Willie Woodhead Road. The fire has burned approximately 4 acres and is currently contained.
Residents in the area should expect to notice the odor of smoke over the next several days as the fire continues to smolder. The situation is being continually monitored by the West Glocester Fire Department in coordination with the Rhode Island Division of Forest Environment, Wildland Fire Control (RIDEM).
If you observe a significant increase in smoke conditions or visible fire, please dial 9-1-1 immediately.
We appreciate the public’s cooperation and awareness while crews continue monitoring conditions.
Special thanks to Chepachet Fire Department and Harmony Fire District for assisting in operations as well as all of the mutual aid who responded from neighboring communities.
