UPDATE ON THE PETITION From Brian McBride

1. Clerk says petition closed on Friday. Hogan stated it can be reopened if there is an error in the process.
2. Per statue, the petition must be served upon the government and not the clerk
3. Because the notice was illegally published before the mayor signed the ordinance, the clock starts the day she signed it, March 3, 2017.
4. That makes our deadline Thursday, March 23, 2017.
5. We are reserving the governing body on March 22 during the open public portion
6. The Township is still saying they did not give consent to electronic signatures. Consent of the town is NOT needed per statue. The consent is between the signer and seeker.
7. I wrote a letter to the local ethics board attorney. I copied the solicitor and conflict solicitor notifying them (and the state) of the conflict.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Stuart Platt, Solicitor for the Township of Washington is attempting to disallow petitions signed using Docusign against the Salary ordinance O02-2017 according to an anonymous source close to Mayor Joann Gattinelli.

Said Brian McBride, Petition Coordinator. "Docusign was chosen as our vendor for electronic signature capture because it complies with the Federal Electronic Signatures on Global and National Commerce Act as well as the New Jersey Electronic Transactions Act. There is absolutely no legal basis for the disqualification of digital signatures via Docusign. It also violates the rights of the senior citizens and disabled for whom it was unsafe to travel in frigid temperatures and with code blue warnings issued by government agencies. This reckless and illegal behavior by Mr. Platt, who is already under investigation by the State of New Jersey for alleged ethics violations, reeks of a desperate attempt by establishment politicians to deny rights conferred to taxpayers under New Jersey law."

"The Washington Township GOP stands squarely behind the petition drive," said Mary Behm, Director of Communications for the Washington Township GOP.

Interested parties will be attending the meeting of the Township Council on Wednesday March 22 at 7PM at 523 Egg Harbor Road to protest this ridiculous and separate attempt to stifle the legal rights of our citizens.
