Last weekend, the Cape Ann Museum hosted a special event celebrating its newly renovated space and current exhibition featuring Milton Avery, Adolph Gottlieb, and Mark Rothko.

Our producer, Heather Atwood, was invited to present her episode of The Color of Light on Joseph Solman, an important figure in American Expressionism and contemporary of Rothko and Gottlieb with strong ties to Cape Ann. The event included a screening followed by a conversation with Solman’s son, Emmy Award–winning journalist Paul Solman.

You can watch the full episode of The Color of Light - Joseph Solman on our Youtube Channel or Channel 6.

In 1932, Rockport was shaken by the murder of Arthur Oker, a Finnish tailor known for his gentle nature. Just over a year later, a second killing followed when Augusta Johnson was murdered in her home on Halloween night in 1933, deepening the fear and mystery. Despite an extensive investigation that included searching every building, interviewing over 2,500 residents, and even consulting a mystic, both crimes remain unsolved.

Join us for a special screening of the newest Timeline: Cape Ann inspired by the book Murder in Rockport, Massachusetts: Terror in a Small Town by Robert Fitzgibbon and Wayne Soini. Following the screening will be a discussion and Q & A with the producer, Kory Curcuru, and authors.

May 19, 2026 | 5:30 pm — Program Begins | Location: 11 Pleasant Street, Gloucester, MA 01930 | Free to attend!
