This storm cell is predicted to push south to our local area and intensify later this afternoon. Although these storms are only predicted at a level 2, which pose a slight risk, it is still possible to see up to 1" of rain, some damaging wind gusts up to 45 mph, and even hail with the stronger storms between 5-9 pm. Tornado threat and flooding risks remains low.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for most of Virginia and the Maryland Eastern Shore. The main threats with any storms this afternoon/evening will be damaging wind gusts and hail. Please have multiple reliable ways to receive warnings for the remainder of the day.
