Gloucester-Mathews-Middlesex VA CERT Community Emergency Response Team -Citizens helping citizens during disasters! This is not an official Gloucester County Page Would you know what to do?

The CERT program trains volunteers in the community how to help their family and neighbors when disaster strikes close to home. During natural and man-made disasters, First Responders are often stretched thin and unable to respond quickly. Would you know how to do it safely? CERT training can prepare you for these situations.

Hot and Humid Thursday! Heat index values once again over 100. A Heat Advisory is in place across Eastern VA. Take it easy if you're outside working - best you can.

The main threat from storms tomorrow will be damaging winds in the afternoon/evening, but a tornado cannot be ruled out. Try to hike/boat/do activities earlier in the day if possible. It will also be very gusty tomorrow even without the thunderstorms, so put your lawn furniture up!

Storms roll in later this afternoon and evening. Any that do develop could become strong to severe rather quickly and produce damaging winds and large hail.

Here's a look at the chance for severe thunderstorms for the next three days: Isolated showers are possible along the coast tonight, then mostly dry for Wednesday. Storm chances increase late Thursday with the potential for severe wind gusts. Risk is highest across the north where the SPC has designated a Slight Risk (level 2 of 5).
