Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society is dedicated to saving the lives of homeless pets through adoption, medical care, and community programs.

We work to create a compassionate community where every animal is valued, cared for, and given a second chance. Our mission is to improve life for all animals by providing temporary shelter, compassionate care, community support and education. GMHS serves Gloucester, Mathews and Middlesex counties and is located at 6620 Jackson Lane, Gloucester VA 23061. Our objectives are to:

- Be a beacon in a

nimal adoption, welfare, and advocacy.
- Provide care for stray and homeless animals.
- Be a driving force for animal education.
- Develop a culture of collaboration and service.
- Ensure financial sustainability.

These kittens would like to formally announce that they escaped, committed several tiny crimes, hosted a secret party, and then got caught by staff before sunrise. 😂

Honestly, the handwritten confession really saved us a lot of investigative work.

Dante is a gentle soul who’s finally getting the chance to enjoy the good life. He spent most of his life as an outdoor cat, but after coming in with an injury, he got the care he needed and has healed up beautifully. What surprised everyone most was discovering just how friendly and affectionate he is!

Now that he knows the comfort of indoor living, Dante is more than ready to retire from the outdoor lifestyle and settle into a calm, loving home. He’s incredibly docile, easygoing, and happiest when he has a cozy spot to relax and simply hang out near his people. Dante would make the perfect companion for someone looking for a mellow, sweet cat to share quiet days and comfy evenings with.

After everything he’s been through, Dante deserves a soft bed, a peaceful home, and lots of love, and he’ll happily return that love right back. ❤
