Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society is dedicated to saving the lives of homeless pets through adoption, medical care, and community programs.

We work to create a compassionate community where every animal is valued, cared for, and given a second chance. Our mission is to improve life for all animals by providing temporary shelter, compassionate care, community support and education. GMHS serves Gloucester, Mathews and Middlesex counties and is located at 6620 Jackson Lane, Gloucester VA 23061. Our objectives are to:

- Be a beacon in a

nimal adoption, welfare, and advocacy.
- Provide care for stray and homeless animals.
- Be a driving force for animal education.
- Develop a culture of collaboration and service.
- Ensure financial sustainability.

UPDATE: ADOPTION PENDING!

When Oscar arrived from a partner shelter, he was covered in dirt and sticky from head to paw. It was hard to see the handsome pup hiding underneath all that mess!

After a much-needed spa day with Shelley our incredible volunteer groomer, Oscar is looking and feeling like a brand-new dog. 💙🛁

Now that he's clean, comfortable, and ready for his next chapter, Oscar can't wait to find a loving family to call his own. Could that be with you?

We have a confession to make...

Part of us doesn't want Gaazhagens to get adopted. 😅

Not because he isn't absolutely wonderful, quite the opposite. This goofy guy keeps us laughing every single day. Whether he's lounging like he pays rent, making ridiculous faces, or posing with his favorite toys like a tiny celebrity, Gaazhagens has become one of the shelter's favorite comedians!

But as much as we'll miss his daily antics, we know he deserves something even better than making us laugh: a loving home of his own. ❤️
