I want to take a second to thank everyone who voted for me, helped in any way, let me speak to them, shared their concerns with me, and put their trust and faith in me. This election was an adventure!! Although it didn’t go the way I had hoped, we are going to keep fighting the good fight! We are going to take a little bit and see what the next steps are. I’m still here to listen and help in any way that I can, win or lose. From the bottom of my heart thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!!

I voted!!! The kids were really bummed that they couldn’t vote but at least they got some candy from the poll workers. You have an hour and a half left! As long as you are in line by 7:30 you can vote. If you haven’t yet, get going!

Rick Trask, former president of the EMS Union who spoke out about serious concerns at ACEMS at the press conference on Thursday, is now on mandatory leave and under investigation for violating the Hatch Act. This is an intimidation tactic being employed by the Athens County Commissioners in a sad attempt at silencing any other employees who might consider speaking out about the deplorable working conditions at ACEMS. This is further proof that 1) Charlie Adkins is a bully who will go to any lengths to protect his position of power, and 2) Jon Rose made the right decision by encouraging current employees of ACEMS who volunteered to be whistleblowers to stay home and write anonymous letters instead, which he read at the press conference, thereby protecting them from retaliation from current commissioners. The letters are still available to be read at www.JonRoseForChange.org under the ACEMS tab. The full press conference, including Rick speaking, is available to view on the website as well. The working conditions and low pay of Athens County paramedics were what initially inspired Jon Rose to run for County Commissioner, but his reasons have expanded greatly in the past few years.

I have been trying to find the words to describe this situation, and I’m still at a loss. This is what we were worried about when planning this press conference. Please read this article in its entirety. This is how the current commissioners feel it is appropriate to run the county. We must do better. We CAN do better. Make sure this coming Tuesday, we see real change in Athens county.

A recent poll shows us with a slight lead over Charlie! This is incredible news, but the vast majority of voters are still undecided and may choose Charlie on Tuesday simply because of the "D" next to his name on the ballot. It is absolutely crucial that we get the word out NOW. If you are tired of the lying, the bullying, and of being ignored by the current commissioners, you must act now to get them out of office. Tell everyone you know to vote for Jon Rose. Share this page, call your friends, shout it from the rooftops. Name recognition is HUGE and since we don’t have money from either major party, we have to rely on the power of community. We can do this! Remember, no matter what, Jon has your back. Vote Jon Rose for change!

Athens County EMS IS still doing tremendous work and receiving awards for it. Two of these fine folks have already left for higher paying jobs. We are losing these people due to shamefully low wages. This is a problem that has a solution.
