Condolences to the Capano family on this terrible loss to our community

It has come to my attention that Matt Capano, the owner of True Value of Gloversville and New York Lunch, who also ran for mayor in this last term, has passed away.

While I personally did not know Matt, my husband had many conversations with him over the years. One thing he told me about Matt was how much he truly loved this city, but he wasn’t afraid to acknowledge or speak about the ugly either. I guess we had that in common.

Sending our deepest condolences, thoughts, and prayers to Matt’s family, friends, and everyone who knew and loved him during this incredibly difficult time.

Rest in peace, Matt. We’ll take it from here.
