City Hall offices will be closed on Monday, September 7th in observance of Labor Day. There will be no change to the garbage collection schedule for the week.

As school starts again, please refer to this map to know where students wishing to utilize the Gloversville Transit Bus need to be standing in order to be picked up after school.

Please inform students that there is no eating, drinking, or smoking of any kind allowed on the buses.
Loud outbursts, foul language or arguing that could distract the driver will not be tolerated.
If a student (or any rider) can not follow these simple rules, they will be asked to leave the bus immediately.

Please understand that use of this bus by students is a privilege, not a right.

Community Opportunity: Supporting Gloversville’s Youth

As conversations continue throughout our community about ways to address juvenile concerns and better support Gloversville’s youth, we are sharing an upcoming opportunity being hosted by the Glove City Coalition.

The Coalition will hold a Supporting Our Kids Community Strategy Session on Wednesday, September 23 at 6:00 p.m. at the Gloversville Public Library. The session will focus on positive, actionable solutions and ways our community can work together to provide opportunities and support for local youth.

We encourage residents, families, community organizations and others interested in being part of these conversations to attend.

Please note: This event is organized and hosted by the Glove City Coalition and is not a City of Gloversville sponsored event. We are sharing it as a community resource and an additional opportunity for residents to become involved.

The City of Gloversville Zoning Board of Appeals has canceled the meeting scheduled for September 2, 2026 due to no applications being received.

JUVENILE CONCERNS & PROPOSED CURFEW LAW UPDATE

Over the past several weeks, City officials, the Gloversville Police Department and our community partners have been working together to address the recent concerns involving juvenile activity in our community and identify a responsible path forward.

Today, we are releasing two documents for the public to review:

• An update from Gloversville Police Chief Michael Garavelli outlining the work currently underway, coordination taking place among local agencies and organizations, and next steps.

• A proposed local law establishing a juvenile nighttime curfew within the City of Gloversville. The proposed law would apply to minors under the age of 17 between 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m., with exceptions for employment, school and religious activities, emergencies, activities authorized by a parent or guardian, and other circumstances outlined in the proposed law.

This is a proposed local law and has not been adopted by the Common Council. It is being released now so residents have an opportunity to read and understand the proposal as the community discussion continues.

As part of that discussion, a Community Meeting will be held Thursday, August 27 at 6:00 p.m. at the Gloversville High School Auditorium, 199 Lincoln Street. Representatives from multiple organizations will participate in a panel-style question-and-answer session to discuss the concerns we are seeing, the resources available and how we can collectively move forward.

We encourage residents to review both documents in advance of Thursday's meeting.

Please be advised that the brush and leaf drop-off site, located in the Transit Department parking lot, 109 West Fulton Street, will be closed on Monday, August 24 and Tuesday, August 25 until 12:00 PM.

The temporary closure is necessary to accommodate the Monthly Mass Food Giveaway and Monthly Mass Produce Distribution, which takes place on the fourth Monday and Tuesday of the month at the Transit Department parking lot.

The drop-off site will reopen for normal use beginning at 12:00 PM on those dates.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

PUBLIC NOTICE – TRAIL STATION PARK SPRAY PAD

Due to ongoing misuse and vandalism, the public restrooms located within the spray pad building at Trail Station Park will be closed to the public indefinitely, effective immediately.

Unfortunately, repeated incidents of damage and inappropriate use of the facilities have made it necessary to restrict access at this time.

We understand that the restrooms are an important amenity for those enjoying the park and spray pad, and we regret that the actions of a few have resulted in their closure for everyone.

At this time, they will only be available to those who reserve the building for private events.

We appreciate the community’s understanding and cooperation as we work to protect and maintain our public facilities.
