๐Ÿ’™ THIS IS WHY I SAID YES. ๐Ÿ’›

When the HUB was asked to be added to Senator Marshallโ€™s โ€œ120 Stops to Strengthen Rural Kansasโ€ Tour, I saw an opportunity to share our communityโ€™s story. It was NEVER about endorsing a person or political party.

The tour focused on serving seniors, supporting Kansas Main Streets and local businesses, and highlighting communities that are becoming stronger by working together. That is exactly what has been happening right here in Goddard.

We began with a tour of the Goddard Area Welcome & Resource HUB, where we shared our mission, what the HUB offers, highlighted the local businesses inside the HUB and explained how we partner with organizations, groups, businesses, churches, schools, volunteers and local government throughout our community.

We also shared how the needs we discovered while creating the Goddard Senior Center helped inspire the HUB. It only made sense to end the tour three doors down at the Goddard Senior Center, where Sami (Senior Center Director) and I shared what our seniors, volunteers and community partners have built together.

Most importantly, we wanted to show the power of collaboration and what becomes possible when we look beyond our own organizations and areas of focus and work together for the good of the entire community.

No one person, group or organization has to do it all. We each bring our piece, share what we do best and build it together.

We are creating something that, quite frankly, does not exist in many rural communities like ours or anywhere else that I know of. The HUB is a grass roots - boots on the ground, centralized place that welcomes people, connects them with resources, supports local businesses, encourages people to serve and brings community partners and volunteers together around one shared mission.

What we are building is getting attention because it is different. People are beginning to recognize that Goddard could become a model for other communities, and that is something our entire community should be proud of.

Saying yes gave us an opportunity to:

๐Ÿ’™ Spread the word about the incredible things happening in Goddard
๐Ÿ’› Advocate for our seniors and the needs of our community
๐Ÿ’™ Celebrate the Senior Center, the Welcome & Resource HUB and Goddard Go
๐Ÿ’› Highlight the local businesses inside the HUB, who also Give where they live and serve
๐Ÿ’™ Share the story of Local Hearts in Action
๐Ÿ’› Show what is possible when a whole community unites and works together

In less than three years, our community has worked together to:

๐Ÿ’™ Create Goddardโ€™s first community resource guide
๐Ÿ’› Open the Goddard Senior Center, which now serves more than 700 members and creates over 10,000 connections each year. Those connections have helped save several lives and even brought together a couple who met at the Senior Center and later got married.
๐Ÿ’™ Bring Meals on Wheels and Friendship Meals to Goddard, when we were told it wasnt possible.
๐Ÿ’› Increase county funding from $6,000 to $22,000 in 2026.
๐Ÿ’™ Grow city funding from $0 to more than $100,000 in 2026
๐Ÿ’› Receive a major federal grant award to establish Goddard Go, our new transportation service launching in September 2026.
๐Ÿ’™ Raise more than $20,000 in local matching grant funds for Goddard Go Transportation
๐Ÿ’› Open the Goddard Area Welcome & Resource HUB

And More. And we are just getting started. More great things are in progress.

The original post was not about bragging. It was about celebrating something our entire community can be proud of and helping our story reach more people.

And it is...

As of Saturday evening, our original post has already received:

๐Ÿ“ฃ 16,193 views
๐Ÿ‘ฅ 7,663 individual viewers
๐Ÿ’ฌ 4,743 engagements
๐Ÿ”— 4,289 clicks
๐Ÿ“ฒ 40 shares to other pages and personal profiles

Most importantly, 92.5% of those views, or nearly 15,000, came from people who did not already follow our page. That does not include everyone who saw Goddard, the HUB and the Senior Center featured on the Channel 12 KWCH news.
https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1EJNHyuPMf/

AND Since sharing the post, I have also received more than a handful of requests for help, and we have been able to connect those individuals with support and resources same day.

Despite the controversy surrounding the post, thousands of people were introduced to the HUB, the Senior Center, Goddard Go, the local businesses inside the HUB and the great things happening throughout our community. Many learned about them for the very first time.

That was the purpose of saying yes.

It was never about politics for us. It was about giving Goddard a voice, advocating for our residents and seniors, highlighting our local businesses, celebrating what we have accomplished together and showing others what is possible when a community unites and works together.

The Goddard Area Welcome & Resource HUB is nonpartisan and open to all. We will continue welcoming opportunities to share our communityโ€™s needs, successes and story with leaders from every party and at every level.

No one person or organization has done this alone. We have each brought our piece and built it together. We are proud of how far we have come, but we also know we have so much more to do together.

That is the story we are proud to share. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›

So I am asking everyone, please do not make this about politics. Help us share our story, celebrate what we have accomplished together as a community, and connect more people with the amazing resources and senior programs Goddard now offers.

๐Ÿ’™ WHAT AN HONOR FOR GODDARD TO SHARE OUR STORY ๐Ÿ’™

Today, Dove Estates, the Goddard Area Welcome & Resource HUB and the Goddard Senior Center had the honor of welcoming U.S. Senator Roger Marshall, M.D. and his team to Goddard as part of his โ€œ120 Stops to Strengthen Rural Kansasโ€ Tour!

We were grateful for the opportunity to share something pretty special happening right here in our community.

Because assumptions have been made, we want to be very clear: welcoming an elected official who asked to include the HUB and Goddard on a community tour, is not our political endorsement or an indication of anyoneโ€™s personal political views.

The Goddard Area Welcome & Resource HUB is nonpartisan and open to all. We welcome opportunities to meet with elected officials and community leaders from every party and at every level when it allows us to advocate for our residents, share local needs and highlight the incredible work happening in Goddard.

This visit was about our community and not politics for us. It was an opportunity to share Goddardโ€™s story, bring attention to the needs of our residents and seniors, and show what can happen when Local Hearts in Action work together.

--------

๐Ÿ’› The power of Local Hearts in Action working together.

Over the past few years, we have seen firsthand what can happen when community members, business owners, local leaders, organizations, groups, churches and volunteers come together, and those local efforts are strengthened by partnerships, resources and support at the local, county, state and federal levels.

Together, in just a couple of years, we have been able to close long-standing gaps in our community and turn needs into action, creating resources, services and connections that didnโ€™t exist before.

Not because any one person, group or organization did it alone.

Everyone brought their piece.

Senator Marshall and his team began their Goddard visit at Dove Estates, an important part of supporting seniors and families in our community.

From there, they joined us at the Goddard Area Welcome & Resource HUB, a physical space now rooted right in the heart of Goddard on Main Street where connections have a place to grow.

The HUB brings people, resources, businesses, organizations and opportunities together with a simple mission:

๐Ÿ’™ WELCOME. CONNECT. SUPPORT. SERVE. ๐Ÿ’›

It is a place focused on grassroots, boots on the ground support & CONNECTING our whole community, supporting local businesses and entrepreneurs, connecting residents and newcomers to resources and opportunities, encouraging volunteerism and creating a space for people and organizations to work together.

Then we walked next door to the Goddard Senior Center, where Senator Marshall and his team got to see what this kind of collaboration can make possible. โค๏ธ

In less than two years, our community has helped build a thriving Senior Center with 700+ registered members, Friendship Meals, Meals on Wheels and so many opportunities for our seniors to connect, serve, build friendships and find purpose.

And now another long-standing need is becoming a reality.

๐ŸšŒ Goddard Go launches in September, providing transportation for seniors and individuals with disabilities and helping create greater access, independence and connection in our community.

From Dove Estates, to the HUB, to the Senior Center, Senator Marshall and his team had the opportunity to see different pieces of our community working together, strengthening Goddard and showing exactly what makes us all . ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›

Everyone has a place. Everyone has something to give. And when we connect those pieces, our whole community becomes stronger.

That is the power of Local Hearts in Action working together.

Community members seeing a need and stepping up. Businesses giving where they live. Volunteers sharing their time and talents. Organizations, groups and churches bringing their resources and strengths. Local leaders listening and helping move ideas forward & creating sustainability. Community-led efforts strengthened by partnerships and support at the local, county, state and federal levels.

No one person, business or organization has to do it all. We each bring our piece and build it together.

The HUB doesnโ€™t replace anybody. It connects everybody. It helps cultivate a culture of collaboration, partnership and shared responsibility while giving our community one centralized place to find information, resources, services, businesses, opportunities and connections.

That is the story we were honored to share today.

We are incredibly grateful for every community member, business owner, local leader, organization, group, church, volunteer and community partner who continues to show up, partner with us, bring their piece and join us in our mission to:

๐Ÿ’™ WELCOME. CONNECT. SUPPORT. SERVE.
The Goddard area TOGETHER. ๐Ÿ’›

And a huge thank you to Senator Marshall and his team for taking the time to visit Goddard, listen to our stories and see firsthand what our community is building together.

Together we are stronger. Together we can do more.

And the best part?

We seriously have the BEST HUB team! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›

I leave the workroom looking like the first pictureโ€ฆ ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ˜‚

And come back to the second picture like someone waved a magic wand. โœจ

Apparently my special talent is creating organized chaos, and their special talent is fixing Amandaโ€™s organized chaos. ๐Ÿคฃ

It takes a village to keep the Goddard Area Welcome & Resource HUB going, and Iโ€™m VERY thankful for mine. โค๏ธ
