Notice of planned Electrical outage overnight.

**THIS POST IS OUTDATED - OUTAGE EVENT HAS PASSED** AMEREN ILLINOIS - NOTICE OF PLANNED OUTAGE IN SOUTHWEST PORTION OF GODFREY

For our residents situational awareness, local officials have been informed this morning that Ameren Illinois has planned a scheduled outage for work to complete emergency repairs to the electrical infrastructure grid that will impact residents in the southwest portions of the village along West Delmar and several subdivisions along that route.

Affected areas will extend into part of D’adrian subdivision, Summerfield subdivision, Arrow Wood subdivision River Aire Subdivision and then west of Clifton Terrace and south to the neighborhoods along the river road.

Ameren has stated that automated calls will be going out to those residents who will be affected by the planned outage.

Ameren’s planned outage is scheduled for Wednesday night (7/29/26) from 10:00 PM until about 5:00 AM on Thursday morning (7/30/26).

If you are a landlord who has the utilities in your name, please share this information with your tenants if they are in or adjacent the affected areas.

We were happy to have hosted the Madison County Technical Rescue Team the past two days. The team is made up of members from departments around the county and they conduct trainings throughout the county. This allows the team to understand their response area and the area departments to understand the capabilities. Our duty crews the last two days were able to meet the team and learn about technical rescue in greater depth.

Good morning,
Today we celebrate the career of Assistant Chief Shawn Bloemker. Shawn started with the Department in 1995 as a Volunteer (POC these days) and was hired full time in 1999.

30 years total and 26.5 full time service.

In the time he completed degrees on fire science from Lewis and Clark Community College and a Bachelor’s degree in Fire Service Management from SIUC.

He rose through the ranks finishing his career as the Assistant Chief of Shift 1 a position he held for 13 years.

Shawn’s dedication to training has seen him become well known throughout the area along with the continental United States and Canada.
It is safe to say that Thousands of Fire Firefighters are well educated due to his efforts.
He spent a decade teaching at Lewis and Clark and the Illinois Fire Service institute before launching his own company “MaxFireTraining” built on the framework of his patented “MaxFireBox”.
Shawn was the training officer for us here for 20+ years and always pushed your firefighters to be better versions of themselves.
Shawn, no doubt, will remain committed to educating firefighters in retirement as well as hiking trails across the nation with his dog Apollo.
Shawn, thank you for the countless hours and dedication to your community and your craft.

Good morning,
Yes it is March and yes burning is allowed again on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Please note the calendar and call if you have any questions.
Additionally, we ask that you be aware of dry and windy conditions that can, and has led to many out of control fires around our area recently.
We’re here when you need us but please use good judgment prior to lighting that pile.

There is a RED FLAG WARNING for our area today. Please do not burn. Dry conditions and winds picking up today is the perfect recipe for even the smallest fires to get out of hand quickly.
