Yesterday at approximately 2:15 PM, The FD responded to a reported grass & brush fire in the 12000 block of west FM 4. The fire appeared to have started at the roadway and traveled NW, consuming approximately 10 acres before being contained. This fire had an extensive mop up phase and units remained on scene until after 5pm. We would like to thank Johnson County ESD, Cleburne Fire Dept, Acton/DCBE Fire Dept and Bono Fire Dept for providing assistance in mitigating this event.

Public Service announcement:

We have been informed that one of the local Facebook groups related to our wonderful community is posting false information about the fire department refusing to enter into subdivisions with speed bumps or substandard roadways.

That statement is not only blatantly false, it is a danger to public safety if anyone were to believe it and not call 911 for services.

We can assure you that we will respond to any emergency, at any time, at any location, regardless of road conditions or any other factor. We are here to serve our community and that is exactly what we will do, regardless of any obstacle.

Thank you Cresson Volunteer Fire Department for assisting us this evening on a grass/cedar break fire, SW off of CR 1131, that could have gotten very ugly. The fire, which was started by a lightning strike, was contained shortly before a continual rain began. This rain was a welcomed occurrence in our efforts.

Please remember to check your filters in HVAC units and always make sure to be present when you first use your furnace for the season. Use of space heaters is highly discouraged. Also make sure all debris, clothing is away from front facing furnaces. You will also need to check batteries in your Carbon Monoxide detectors and install them if there are none present, if you are using gas. Time change this weekend is also the perfect time to replace those smoke detector batteries. Have a safe and healthy weekend!

Cresson food pantry Oct 24th -- rain or shine --
This made for an exciting date night. Hope you guys have a quiet 4th week coming up and stay safe.
We moved away from Godley in March of 1992 and my son donated his big RC fire truck he had gotten for Christmas in 1991 to the dept. Was just wondering if you still have it? I know that's been years ago but thought I'd ask.
You have been challenged! 😁
To the Godley Fire Department. I have a elderly friend that lives in Godley. I was told there was a bond fire the other night and that embers are still smoldering ashes causing a odor and making it difficult for them ans some elderly ladies in nearby apartment building with breathing problems, Can you look into this and shed some light on the subject. I know no one in the City of Godly would want to put anyone in harms way. Thanks John Williams 817-366-8111..I can receive text as well
Come see us!!!
If anyone in Godley is missing their dog please pm me .. SHE showed up at my house last night and is still here .. please pm me before tomorrow so she can come home before the fireworks ..
