Alaska: The White Raven has made a home among Anchorage’s urban environs. Its snowy plumage transcends background, belief, and species. At a time when it seems that our differences are in focus, White Raven can remind of us of our shared experiences and connections to each other and the land.
The Dena’ina Athabascan people have lived in and around the areas of what are now called Anchorage, Turnagain Arm, and Cook inlet, for around 10,000 years and have strong connections to and reverence for raven.
Corvid enthusiasts hoping to catch a glimpse of the White Raven can do so with respect. They choose to be here at this specific time. Give them space for foraging appropriate foods and be respectful of businesses and neighborhoods the White Raven frequents.
