Today, on First Responder Day, we pause to honor the courageous men and women who run toward danger when others turn away.

To every firefighter, police officer, paramedic, EMT, dispatcher, first responder, and rescue worker — thank you for your bravery, compassion, and unwavering dedication. You keep our communities safe, bring comfort in moments of crisis, and remind us every day what true heroism looks like.

You meet our hardest moments with steady hands and caring hearts — and for that, we are deeply and endlessly grateful.

From all of us, thank you for being our everyday heroes.

As we see the termination of restrictions on controled burning and burn barrels (on October 11 2025), Ophir Fire Department would like to remind you to take all safety precautions seriously and be prepared before you light off your burns. The end of restrictions does not signal an end to the possibilty of a burn getting out of control. Please call Coos Forest Patrol if you have any questions/conerns about your burn area.

Effective Tomorrow, Saturday, October 11th, 2025. Fire Season and the Regulated Use Closure will be terminated.

Debris burning is now allowed, but please keep your burns limited to wood and paper products. Paper products should be burned in an enclosed area with a screen, such as a burn barrel, to prevent large ash particles from escaping.

For safety, we recommend the following guidelines for debris burning:
•Clear Surroundings: Ensure that the area around the burn pile is cleared of any flammable materials.
•Fire Tools and Water: Have fire tools (such as shovels and rakes) and a sufficient supply of water readily available at the burn site.
•Attend the Fire: Remain in attendance until the burn pile is completely out. Do not leave the site unattended at any time.

CFPA would like to thank everyone for their cooperation this fire season!

Hot, Dry, and High Fire Danger

With temperatures climbing and relative humidity dropping across much of our district, We’re urging everyone to follow all Regulated Use Closures that are in place to help prevent human-caused wildfires.

All debris burning is strictly prohibited — even small piles. Under these conditions, fires can escape quickly and be extremely hard to control.

Your caution today can help protect our forests, homes, and communities tomorrow. Thank you for doing your part to keep our district fire safe!

Fire Danger Level Increases To HIGH

Warm weather and wind in conjunction with the current fires across southern Oregon has prompted Coos Forest Protective Association (CFPA) to increase the fire danger level to “HIGH” (yellow) effective Friday July 11, 2025 12:01am. Industrial Fire Protection Levels (IFPL) will increase to 2 across zones CS2, CS5, SK1, SK2. IFPL will remain level 1 in CS1 and CS4

CFPA is asking the public’s continued help with fire prevention this summer.

For more information on current closures and restrictions, you can find CFPA on the web at www.coosfpa.net, call the closure line at (541) 267-1789, or follow us on Facebook.

Please have a SAFE holiday.

Please have a SAFE holiday.

As we approach the 4th of July, we want to remind everyone that fireworks and dry vegetation dont mix.

Under current public use restrictions, fireworks are prohibited on all forestlands protected by CFPA — that includes both public and private timberlands.

Please celebrate responsibly:
✅ Enjoy community-sponsored firework shows
🚫 Don’t use personal fireworks in or near dry grass/forested areas.
🔥 Report fires immediately by calling 911

Let’s all do our part to protect the forests and communities we call home. Have a safe and fire-free holiday! 🇺🇸
