🚒 RILEY CREEK FIRE UPDATE 🌲
August 10 2026 our community successfully contained the Riley Creek Fire to just under 12 acres near Highway 101 and Weber Way (by the beach entrance). This swift victory kept our neighbors safe thanks to an aggressive, coordinated response.
🔥 INCIDENT LEADERSHIP & FIRE CREWS:
Huge thanks to Incident Commanders Derwin Boggs and Tyson Krieger. Derwin Boggs from Coos Forest Protection Association who played key role in the suppression of this fire. With his crews, and years of fire experience. His ability to dispatch helicopters, heavy equipment, and hand crews so quickly is a great asset to our community. Tyson Krieger for his outstanding leadership. We specifically want to thank the Oregon State Fire Marshal (OSFM)—participating in their conflagration system provided Tyson with the critical training and preparation needed to manage so many differing departments across a large, rapidly changing incident. We would also like to thank U.S. Forest Service Russell Wilstead and Jennifer Stansell for their experience leadership and quick response to aid our community.
