In the year 1620, Ed Shockley arrived in America, stepping off the Mayflower and onto this great land…
(See attached photo for historical documentation.)
Over the next few centuries, Ed got to work.
From supporting scholarships, to helping women’s shelters, the food bank, neighborhood cleans up. Whenever and wherever the community needed him, Ed was there...

Ed has been the kind of person who simply makes every place he’s a part of and every person who knows him better. The kind of guy you can count on. The kind of guy every community hopes to have.
We’ve been incredibly lucky to have him as part of ours.

Recently, Ed was recognized as Rotarian of the Year, a well-earned honor for a lifetime (or several lifetimes) of service.
As he steps away from Rotary, it’s hard to fully put into words the impact he’s had—but it’s safe to say our community is better because of him.
Ed—thank you for everything you’ve done. You’ve set the bar high for the rest of us.

Speakers for the March 11th Rotary Club meeting were Terry and Mary Drader, winter visitors, who for many years have been winter residents of our local Gold Canyon area, and Rotary Club. Terry and Mary are long-time fellow Rotarians from Drayton Valley Rotary Club (Alberta, Canada - Rotary District 5370).

They spoke about an experience they had been a part of when District GSE Team leader, Julie Mulligan (who was also from their Drayton Valley Rotary Club), was kidnapped while she was in Nigeria on a GSE Exchange.

The kidnapping experience they shared was scary when it was occurring. Canadian government officials, along with Rotarians, both in Nigeria, as well as Canada, all played a role in there being a successful outcome, with Julie ultimately being freed from her kidnappers and coming back home safely.

Superstition Mountain Rotary Club participated in and volunteered for the 2026 Lost Dutchman Days Rodeo event, February 27 - March 1, 2026.

For many years, Superstition Mountain Rotary Club members have volunteered during the annual Lost Dutchman Days Rodeo. The event provides both a fundraiser and a service project opportunity for the Club. Volunteers actively work for all three days, handling beer sales.

Funds received from participating in service projects such as this are utilized by the Club throughout the year to assist many non-profit, need-based, youth, and community causes.

Additionally, the Club utilizes funds received from service projects to help provide funding for student scholarships.
