The National Forest Foundation, chartered by Congress, engages Americans in community-based and national programs that promote the health and public enjoyment of the 193-million-acre National Forest System and administers private gifts of funds and land for the benefit of the National Forests. The Forest Service manages a system of 155 national forests, 20 national grasslands, and 222 research and

experimental forests, as well as other special areas, covering more than 192 million acres of public land. The Forest Service has evolved into a 30,000 employee agency that manages the national forests for a number of multiple uses, including recreation, timber, wilderness, minerals, water, grazing, fish, and wildlife.

Energy Lake Road (FS Road 134) will be open to through traffic starting Saturday, May 23. It will be closed periodically over the next few weeks for additional grading, shoulder work and eventually paving. Rain or shine there is a lot to do this weekend at LBL!
⚒Visit the Homeplace Working Farm for their annual Hammer-In blacksmithing event.
🐢Woodlands Nature Station will be hosting River Days highlights all the critters of our rivers.
🔭In the evening you can visit Golden Pond Planetarium and Observatory to catch a laser light show and if the clouds cooperate join the West Kentucky Amateur Astronomers at the observatory for a Star Party.
