Coast Guard are invited & encouraged to come to the reunion to swap stories of long ago search & rescue missions, spooky tales of lighthouses that might have been haunted, transfers & mutual’s , mid watches, boat calls, port and starboard liberties, isolated Loran stations, aids to navigation & others things of our time as Coasties which makes our service unique and ties all of us together. e in the history of the Twin Cities, who knows of these things, can ever remember such an extensive gathering of ex-Coasties which is going to take place on June 8th, 2013 in Golden Valley . Ex-Coasties from all over the Midwest will be in attendance which will include Active Duty, Retired, Reserves, Auxiliary, SPARS, spouses and kids are all welcome. Anyone who has been in United States Coast Guard and who knows a bowline from a monkey’s fist is cordially invited. The day will start in mid-morning with the conversations to begin around 10:30 or 11:00. A lunch buffet will be served at noon. On the menu is the following: Two meat choices from roast turkey, roast pork, roast beef, baked ham, meat balls & baked chicken. The cost is $20.00 per person which includes tax, tip, incidentals and coffee. After lunch, a short program, which is in the development stages and yet to be determined at this time, will be held. If you wish, come prepared to tell everyone where & what years you served, your rate & rank and then what you did for a living and where you did it, after you got out of the service. After the program, there are no specific activities that are scheduled except to have great conversations with everyone that will be held at the VFW Hall, throughout the afternoon.
