Social Media Policy
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office’s social media accounts a
re limited public forums under the First Amendment and are established and maintained to allow the Sheriff’s Office to communicate and engage with the community. As such, we encourage your comments, concerns, and questions regarding any of the topics on our social media posts. We expect comments generally to be courteous and respectful of other commenters and may remove comments that:
1. Contain specific threats to individuals or institutions;
3. Violates any federal, state, or local law or directly advocates for violence or illegal activity;
4. Promote or endorse services or products;
5. Contain third-party links, malware, or computer viruses, or appear to contain the same;
6. Infringe on copyright, trademark, or other propriety interests unless permission to use the material is clearly indicated;
7. Disclose personally identifiable private or confidential information;
8. Are not related to the topic of the Sheriff’s Office’s original post (i.e., spam); or
9. Duplicate comments posts repeatedly within a short period of time.
