This Weekend in Golden is getting ready for Halloween! 🎃

Friday, October 23, and Saturday, October 24: Miners Alley Presents 'Cavemen vs. Zombies!'
• Golden's local Miners Alley Performing Arts Center Theatre for Youth Audiences brings this fun, not-too-spooky Halloween adventure meant for all ages. Prehistoric fun is waiting! Showtimes vary depending on the day. The performances also run through November, including one on October 31.

Friday, October 23: Foothills Art Center Fall Open House
• From 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., explore the Foothills Art Center Creative Campus with live demos from artists and peek around the art studios where the magic happens. It's an informal evening of connection with the artist community. This event is free and open to the public!

Saturday, October 24 and Sunday October 25: Trunk or Treats Around Golden
• On Saturday and Sunday, various community churches are holding free and open Trunk or Treat events. If you've never attended one, they are a safe and free alternative (or addition) to traditional trick or treating. Vehicles are traditionally dressed up, and kids are encouraged to come in costume! It's official: Golden Gate Canyon is the best place to see stars in the Denver metro.

Golden Gate Canyon State Park has received an Urban Night Sky Place designation from DarkSky International, the first of its kind in Colorado. The park provides an important dark sky ecosystem within a close drive to the Denver metro area, giving hundreds of thousands of people access to unobstructed views of a starry night.

The park is open for day use until 10:00 p.m., and camping is also available. Congratulations to Golden's local state park!

Lookout Mountain has some of the best mountain views in Golden and the entire Front Range's foothills.

It's also at 7,377 feet above sea level - about 2,000 feet above Denver (which you can clearly see from the summit). You can drive or hike to the top from Golden.

Lookout Mountain's summit will be, on average, about 10 degrees cooler than Golden. It also faces rapid weather changes, and the drive up to the top is winding and may be intimidating for visitors without experience driving on mountain roads.

This Weekend in Golden is going full on fall-mode. 🍂

Saturday, October 17: “Knock Your Boots Off” Golden Beverage Tasting & Chili Cookoff
• From 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., the Golden Beverage Tasting and Chili Cookoff is taking over Parfet Park. The festival supports the Golden Welcome Center.

Saturday, October 17: Holidaily's Gluten-Free Fall Fest
• Golden-based Holidaily Brewing Company is hosting this fall festival, featuring a flash tattoo artist, live music, food vendors, and a fall b**r release. The festival is from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at their Golden location, 801 Brickyard Circle.

Sunday, October 18: The Golden Mill's 5th Annual Howl-o-Ween
• From 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., visit The Golden Mill for their fifth annual Howl-o-Ween. Costumes (pet and human) are encouraged. Live music, adoptable dogs, and the Golden Mill's usual wonderful food options will be on site. The Golden Mill is at 1012 Ford St., Golden.

Friday, October 16 - Sunday, October 18: Stories Worth Telling Festival
• Starting Friday and running through the whole weekend, the 5th annual Stories Worth Telling Festival will feature 20 films over the three days. Films span topics focusing on outdoor culture, adventure, and human-centric documentary storytelling. Passes are available for individual filmsm also.

Friday, October 9: The Talking Dead - An Immersive Ghost Tour
• Join Golden History Tours and Elevate Immersive for a step into the shadows of Golden's history. This unique pub crawl will tell the stories of 6 to 8 ghosts from Golden's past, with two stops at local pubs throughout the night. The tour is from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., starting at the Golden Mill, 1012 Ford Street, Golden.

Saturday, October 10: Stay Golden Mercantile's Grand Opening
• The grand opening of downtown Golden's new business, Stay Golden Mercantile, will be on Saturday, October 10, from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Stay Golden Mercantile, 1106 Washington Avenue, Golden. The grand opening will feature fun family activities like face painting and hair tinsel, as well as product giveaways and raffles.

Saturday, October 10: 'Golden's Original Chili Fest'
