Run Announcement - ATTENTION COLORADO!

On Saturday, July 15th, Zechariah will be in Woodland Park, Colorado where at 9AM, he will be conducting his first ever mile within the Colorado states lines in honor of every First Responder who has been lost in the Line of Duty serving the great state of Colorado.

The run will begin promptly at 9AM local time and will start at Memorial Park. The run will be open to the public. Those attending are asked to park at the Woodland Park City Office.

Please be advised that our runs will continue to be dependent on Law Enforcement being present.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of the law enforcement officers who have died or been killed in the line of duty in the past few months.

Normally we post each name here, but the staggering number in the last 2 month because of COVID has made that impossible. We encourage you to visit the Officer Down Memorial page for specific information, but so far this year 338 officers have been killed or died in the line of duty. In August and September alone, that number was 141 officers, the vast majority died as a result of the COVID 19 virus. This year, to date, 216 of the 338 officers died of COVID.

ILLINOIS STATE POLICE MOURN THE LOSS OF
TROOPER GERALD MASON

CHICAGO, IL – Illinois State Police (ISP) Director Brendan F. Kelly regretfully announces the death investigation of ISP District Chicago Trooper Gerald Mason.

This afternoon, October 1, 2021, at approximately 1:42 p.m., Trooper Gerald Mason #6218 was found in his squad car on Interstate 94 northbound in the local lanes at 43rd Street with a single gunshot wound. Citizens, Chicago Police Department (CPD) Officers, and Illinois State Police Troopers arrived on scene. CPD transported Trooper Mason to a local hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries. At approximately 2:16 p.m., Trooper Mason succumbed to his injuries.

“It is with profound heartache and unfathomable sadness that we inform you of the death of Trooper Gerald Mason. Trooper Mason was one of the many fearless Troopers assigned to ISP District Chicago. We are asking the public to respectfully give consideration to the family of Trooper Mason and the whole ISP family while we continue to grieve and work through this tragedy,” stated Director Brendan Kelly.

Trooper Mason was 35 years old and a 11 year veteran of the Illinois State Police. Additional information will be released once it becomes available.
