Zone 1 and 2 Burn Ban will go into effect on Monday May 18th, 2026. That means on Sunday at midnight, the fire needs to be out. Please use caution when burning, this last round of warm, breezy weather has really dried it out!

Fire season has sadly already started. It looks wet but there is still a ton of dead and dry fuels and we've already had a few escaped piles and accidental starts in the county. Burning is allowed but be mindful and make sure you follow the rules on your permit! This article published recently about the decline in volunteers is definitely true for us! All of our volunteers are amazing but what happens when the old timers can't do it anymore? They are retiring out faster than we are getting new recruits. Jr members can start as early as 16 and learn the ropes. Come talk to us anytime!

Please help us in congratulating our 3 newest Captains. In addition to shiny new red helmets, they get a 1000% pay increase (1000%x$0=$0) and get to devote even more of their precious time to the department! (Thankfully they have a sense of humor and no feelers were hurt by the addition of the temporary helmet badges). Seriously though, these guys do SO MUCH for the department and community and we are lucky to have them!
