Corrections Officer Testing & Interview Process

The Klickitat County Department of Corrections will be conducting a written examination, physical ability test, and oral interview for applicants interested in the position of Corrections Officer.

Date: March 24, 2026
Time: 0800 hours (8:00 AM)
Location: Klickitat County Jail

Applicants who wish to participate must first submit an application for the Corrections Officer position.

Application Instructions:
Visit https://klickitatcounty.gov/ and complete the online application for the Corrections Officer position. After your application is submitted, a recruiter will review your information and contact you with further instructions regarding the testing process.

Candidates should be prepared to complete all required testing components, including the written test, physical ability test, and interview. On the morning of March 10, while receiving breakfast, an inmate housed in the Klickitat County Jail facility suffered from a medical complication. This medical complication resulted in the inmate falling and hitting their head on the wall and floor. Correctional Officers responded promptly and called for Emergency Medical Services to respond to the jail. The officers treated the inmate until medics arrived. The inmate was transported to the hospital with minor injuries to the head and was held overnight at the hospital until they were released by the doctor to return to the jail the following morning. The inmate is expected to make a full recovery, thanks to the quick response of the officers and medical professionals.

The Klickitat County Jail is currently under the direct supervision of the Board of County Commissioners. Chief Jail Administrator Bill Frantz now oversees the jail's operations, while ensuring effective management and compliance with established protocols.
We would like to emphasize that the jail will remain fully operational and is not scheduled for closure.

The Board of County Commissioners is committed to providing staff with advanced training and upgraded equipment, enabling us to perform our daily tasks effectively and respond safely to any incidents or emergencies that may arise within the facility. The Klickitat County Jail is hiring, and has two full time Correctional Officer positions open and posted on the Klickitat County website.
