Natchitoches Parish President John Salter Issues Parish-Wide Burn Ban Effective Immediately
NATCHITOCHES, LA – Due to continued extreme heat, prolonged drought conditions, and an elevated risk of wildfires, Natchitoches Parish President John Salter has officially issued a Parish-Wide Burn Ban, effective today, August 13, 2026.

A board meeting for Natchitoches Parish Fire District Two is set for July 14 at 7 p.m. at the Goldonna Fire Station.

Trees have been cleared from Highway 156 between Goldonna and Creston; however, please exercise extreme caution as water continues to flow across the roadway.

Please use extreme caution when traveling this morning. There are reports of many roads underwater as well as trees and branches down. ⚠️ ⚠️ never drive through flooded roads.

The next monthly Board Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, June 9th at 7:00 PM, and will be held at the Goldonna Station. Individuals interested in joining our team of volunteers are encouraged to attend this meeting to complete an application.

Volunteer Qualification Requirements:

1. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
2. A valid driver's license is required.
3. A clean background check is generally necessary, with exceptions subject to Chief approval.

The monthly board meeting is scheduled for tomorrow, May 5, 2026, at 7:00 PM at Goldonna Station. We are seeking volunteers for the following stations: Goldonna, Readhimer, Creston, and The Point.

At 21:13, Natchitoches Parish Fire District 2 responded to a structure fire, resulting in one individual sustaining injuries from the fire. This individual has been transported to the hospital via a privately owned vehicle.
