In honor of National Police Week & Peace Officers Memorial Day, our Explorers visited the First Responders Memorial at Wayne Community College yesterday evening. The Explorers learned about the ultimate sacrifice made by the Officers and other responders whose names are etched in the granite, never to be forgotten. 🖤💙🖤

Have you ever watched a true crime show and wondered if you could solve the case? Now’s your chance to find out!

The Criminal Justice and Forensics Club is hosting a Forensics Open House that is FREE and open to the community. All ages are welcome!

⏰ 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM
📍 Azalea Building (First Floor), Wayne Community College

Stop by anytime during the event and explore a variety of hands-on stations, including:

• Fingerprinting
• Mock crime scene photography
• Microscopy
• Bloodstain pattern analysis
• Presumptive blood testing
• And more!

This is a great opportunity to experience real forensic techniques, learn something new, and see what our program is all about. Come and go as you please. Bring your friends and family!

We had an awesome time meeting some new Explorers last night at the Post's Open House. After learning about our training, events & activities, they had the opportunity to try out handcuffing during a hands-on activity. It's great to have them on-board and to watch them learn & grow while discovering their future in law enforcement!

There's still time to join though! If you were not able to attend last night or you haven't signed up yet, send us a message and we'll make it happen.

Explorer Post 209 extends our sincere gratitude to Goldsboro Elks Lodge BPOE #139 for the presentation of their Gratitude Grant to the Post. Explorers Raylan W. And Jacob N. were on hand to accept the grant on behalf of the Post. The funds will help sponsor Explorers attend an upcoming conference & competition, and Explorer Academy this summer. Thank you Elks!

Explorer Post 209 has been very busy today. We were up bright and early to help with the Goldsboro Police Department Shop with a Cop event at Target. Explorers helped welcome everyone and went shopping with some of the families. They were then off to Pikeville Cemetery for the Wreaths Across America event presented by the American Legion Post 541 Pikeville NC. Explorers provided parking assistance for attendees and then helped to lay wreaths to honor our Veterans. Busy day, but well worth the effort to support these great causes! Big thanks to Explorers Zach T, Gavin P, Jeremiah C, Jacob N, and Raylan W for all volunteering to help today!!

We're super proud of the Explorers who came out this evening to park cars and direct traffic in Freedom Field for the Goldsboro Christmas Parade. We were so busy, we weren't able to get a pic of everyone hard at work, but Raylan W, Jacob N, Jeremiah C, Gavin P, Landon P, & Zachary T all did a great job!! Thank you for for service tonight!

Explorers Zach T. and Jacob N. represented Explorer Post 209 well today during the Survival Weekend events! Jacob placed 2nd in the Survival Run (1.5 miles), and Zach anchored the 2nd Place Tug-of-War team with Explorers from other Posts (while Jacob cheered them on). It was a great weekend of teamwork and fun!

Our Explorers had a great time at the State Crime Lab Open House tonight! They learned about latent evidence, digital evidence, fi****ms processing, toxicology, the DNA database, and forensic biology. They met several technicians who explained how their area of the lab processed evidence & helped to solve crimes. It was a great, informative trip for the Explorers!

It was great to have Ali and Juan visit us at tonight's meeting. Ali was back home for fall break at UNC-W. Juan is home a few days after graduation from Marine Corp boot camp last Friday. Two former Explorers doing great things!
