🎨 Community Paint Day at Jupiter’s Garden! 🌸
History, community, and art are coming together, and we want your hands to help bring it to life!
We are incredibly excited to announce the installation of a beautiful new community mural right here at Jupiter’s Garden. This stunning piece is broken into dedicated panels, each honoring a vital piece of Caroline County’s rich history and diverse heritage:
The Ababco Tribe: Dedicated to our region's original caretakers. The Ababco (part of the Choptank people) lived right along our river basin and were renowned for their peaceful trade relations and deep connection to the local land and waterways.
The Spirit of Freedom: Commemorating the Underground Railroad and featuring Charity Still—a brave Black woman born into bo***ge right here in Caroline County. She heroically escaped slavery twice to claim her freedom, ultimately becoming a powerful matriarch of the abolition movement.
The Land & The Labor: Celebrating our hardworking local agricultural community and honoring a piece of our immediate history—the historic Faulkner Dairy Farm. Located right next door to Jupiter's Garden, it was a beloved local fixture and a true community cornerstone for 50 years.
The Kingdom of Guatemala & Our Vibrant Present: Honoring the historical roots of the Kingdom of Guatemala and celebrating our wonderful, thriving local Guatemalan community. This panel honors the beautiful families of incredibly hardworking people who contribute so much culture, life, and heart to our neighborhood today.
Boundaries & Explorers: Marking the historic Mason-Dixon Line and Captain John Smith's regional journeys.
✨ Come Paint With Us! ✨
You don’t need to be an artist to leave your mark on this legacy piece. Grab a brush and join your neighbors for a community paint afternoon!
📅 When: Friday, July 31st
🕐 Time: 11am – 2:00 PM
📍 Where: Jupiter’s Garden
🍋 Bonus: We’ll be serving up free, refreshing Lavender Lemonade to keep everyone cool while we paint!
❤️ A Special Thank You to Our Sponsors
This beautiful project is brought to you by The Choptank/Tolomato Legacy Project—a wonderful non-profit dedicated to teaching cultural literacy through public art focused on regional legends and lore.
This project is proudly supported and sponsored by the Maryland State Arts Council.
