πŸŽ‰ As we wrap up Community Action Month, we’re proud to celebrate a remarkable milestone: 60 years of WAGES serving our community! πŸŽ‰

For six decades, WAGES has been dedicated to helping individuals and families build brighter futures. From supporting young children through early education programs to assisting seniors in maintaining independence and quality of life, our mission has remained the same: strengthening our community through service, opportunity, and hope.

Over the past 60 years, we have positively impacted thousands of lives across Wayne County and beyond. This achievement would not be possible without the support of our staff, volunteers, partners, Board of Directors, and the community members who have entrusted us to walk alongside them on their journey.

As we celebrate our past, we remain committed to our future, continuing our tradition of excellence and expanding opportunities for the communities we serve.

πŸ’™ Thank you for being part of our 60-year legacy of service. Here's to many more years of making a difference together!

WAGES is proud to serve our community as a location for a Blessing Box β€” a simple way to spread kindness, hope, and support to those in need. πŸ’œ

Whether you are able to leave a blessing for someone else or need to take one for yourself, this box is here for our community. Together, we can continue helping one another and making a difference, one blessing at a time.

During Older Americans Month, WAGES proudly recognizes the impact of our Senior Nutrition Program and the seniors we are honored to serve each day. Through our Home Delivered Meals Program, nutritious meals are delivered directly to homebound seniors, providing not only nourishment, but also daily wellness checks, safety monitoring, and meaningful social connection.
Our Congregate Nutrition Program offers seniors the opportunity to enjoy healthy meals, fellowship, activities, and nutrition education at our congregate meal sites located at the Peggy M. Seegars Senior Center in Goldsboro and the Mt. Olive Nutrition Site. The Senior Nutrition Program plays a vital role in helping older adults remain healthy, independent, and connected to their community. WAGES is proud to support and celebrate our older adults today and every day!

During Older Americans Month, WAGES proudly celebrates the incredible volunteers of our Foster Grandparent Program, which currently has 67 Foster Grandparents serving in schools, Head Start classrooms, and educational programs throughout our community, exceeding its volunteer goal by 88%! ❀️ Through individualized mentoring, tutoring, classroom assistance, emotional encouragement, and academic support, these dedicated volunteers help children with special and/or exceptional needs feel valued, supported, and capable of success.

We are especially proud to recognize one of our remarkable Foster Grandparents who will celebrate her 94th birthday on May 28 and is one of the oldest serving Foster Grandparent volunteers in the United States. Her compassion, dedication, and lifelong commitment to children continue to inspire us all.
