***FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE***
Mar-Mac Volunteer Fire Department, along with Arrington Volunteer Fire Department, were dispatched automatic aide to assist Dudley Volunteer Fire Department with a working structure fire in the 100 block of Potts Road. Mar-Mac Engine 6 arrived on scene and was assigned to protect exposures on the C “Charlie” side of the structure. Engine 6 deployed a 250 foot 1 3/4 inch attack line. Mar-Mac Tanker 1 arrived and supplied water to Dudley Engine 3. Mar-Mac Tanker 1 then went to Outlaw Road and Old Mount Olive Highway and set up a full site for tankers. Tanker 1 was then assigned to supply water to Mar-Mac Engine 6. Mar-Mac Tanker 1 supplied approximately 6,000 gallons of water to the scene. Mar-Mac Rescue 15 arrived and supplied manpower. Mar-Mac QRV-15 brought water and drinks for rehab operations. It’s always great to work so well with our neighboring departments. Everyone did a great job!!!

***IT HAS BEEN A BUSY DAY IN THE MAC***

MAR-MAC FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONDED TO A WORKING VEHICLE FIRE AT 6:44 AM, AN ELEVATOR MALFUNCTION AT 12:27 PM AND ANOTHER WORKING VEHICLE FIRE AT 5:36 PM. THANK YOU TO OUR DEDICATED VOLUNTEERS AND PAID STAFF FOR THERE HARD WORK AND THANK YOU TO OUR COMMUNITY FOR LETTING US SERVE YOU.

***CALL REPORT JULY 2026***

WE RAN 3 WORKING STRUCTURE FIRES, 2 IN DISTRICT AND 1 AUTOMATIC AIDE TO Arrington Vol. Fire Department Inc. WE ALSO RAN 2 STRUCTURE FIRES AUTOMATIC AIDE THAT WERE NOT WORKING FIRES. WE LANDED A MEDICAL HELICOPTER 1 TIME IN DISTRICT FOR AN INJURED PERSON FROM AN ATV ACCIDENT. WE RAN 2 ARR-MAC ATV RESCUES AND 1 ARR-MAC WATER RESCUE TO PICK UP A PATIENT OFF THE RIVER THAT HAD BEEN INJURED DUE TO AN ASSAULT. WE ALSO RAN 3 GRASS/WOODS FIRES AUTOMATIC AIDE TO Dudley Volunteer Fire Department.

Mar-Mac Fire Department is hiring 4 Part-time Engineer positions. These positions are Monday-Friday 8:00AM to 5:00PM on a rotating basis depending on the assigned shift or the availability of the employee on a sign up basis. The assigned shift, if applicable, will be based on the employee's full time work schedule. These positions may in the near future be part of a staggered start schedule with start times being 7:00AM, 8:00AM and 9:00AM and ending at 4:00PM, 5:00PM and 6:00PM daily as needs change and growth continues.

We do provide benefits to part-time employees including training expense coverage/reimbursement, supplemental life insurance and supplemental critical illness insurance.

Happy 250th Birthday America!!!!!

Well it has been a busy day in the Mac. Started this morning just after 7:00 am with a medical call. One of our firefighters assisted EMS with delivering a sweet a little baby boy in the EMS Unit. Mom and Baby seemed to be doing well and congratulations to the family.
Just before 10:00 am we were dispatched to an ATV accident. Duke Life Flight was called to air lift the patient. Mar-Mac personnel assisted with Incident Command, patient care and LZ Command. We are praying for the patient and the family.
Just after 4:00 PM we were dispatched to assist Dudley Fire Department with a Woods Fire. Engine 7, Engine 8, Squad 15 and Tanker 1 responded and assisted with fire suppression. The NC Forestry Service and Arrington Fire Department also responded and assisted. The fire was stopped quickly due to great team work.
Just before 5:30 PM we were dispatched to a heat exposure call. Arr-Mac Search and Rescue ATV Team was requested due to the possible location of the patient. The patient was located in an office area and Arr-Mac was cancelled. The patient was transported by Wayne County EMS.
Thank you Wayne County EMS, Dudley Fire Department, Arrington Fire Department, the NC Forestry Service and the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office for the great team work.

We ran one working commercial vehicle fire and the Arr-Mac Search and Rescue Team (ATV Operations) responded to one rescue where the patient removed from a remote location by UTV and was then air lifted from the scene.

The picture on this post is of most of our retired members. On June 4th we hosted our retirees and current members for an “eating meeting”, it was great to fellowship with them.
