The El-Roy Fire Department, in partnership with Casey's Chapel Church and St. Johns FWB Church, will be hosting a benefit fundraiser for longtime volunteer firefighter Jarvis Grady on May 16, 2026.

Firefighter Grady has dedicated over 30 years of service to the El-Roy Volunteer Fire Department, and now it’s our turn to support him as he bravely battles a cancer diagnosis.

Join us in giving back to someone who has given so much to our community. Please see the flyers in this post for details on purchasing raffle tickets and meal plates.

The Wayne County Fire Marshal’s Office has issued a burn ban for all of Wayne County, effective at 5 p.m. on Friday, April 10. The ban will remain in place until further notice.

This follows a statewide burn ban issued on March 28. The county ban allows local officials to enforce the restriction and issue penalties for violations.

Dry conditions, weather that can help fires spread quickly, and little rain in the forecast have increased the risk of wildfires. Residents are asked not to burn outdoors until the ban is lifted to help protect people, homes, and first responders.

*****WORKING FIRE*****
Last night El-Roy, New Hope and Arrington Fire Departments responded to the reported structure fire in the 200 block of Forest Knolls Road. El-Roy units arrived to find a working fire in a single story multi-family dwelling. Members from El-Roy quickly went to work stretching handlines, performing vertical ventilation and conducting primary and secondary searches. Quick work held the fire to the apartment of origin.

Elroy Fire Department will be conducting fire hydrant maintenance from November 20-22nd and 27th-30th. This may cause discoloration in your water for a short period time.

Friday afternoon El-Roy Fire was dispatched to assist Arrington Fire Department with a motor vehicle accident with one trapped. El-Roy Fire arrived and members quickly went to work to stabilize the vehicle and remove the roof to gain access to the patient.
