🐝 Help us count pollinators in Wayne County! 🌸

Join the NC State Extension Master Gardeners℠ of Wayne County for the 2026 Great Southeast Pollinator Census!

🎯 Our Goal: We are aiming for 100+ counts in Wayne County to help North Carolina hit its statewide target of 10,000+ counts!

Whether you're a seasoned gardener or just love nature, everyone can participate—no insect identification experience needed, and all ages are welcome!

🗓️ Friday, August 21st | Stop by anytime between 10am – 3pm
🗓️ Saturday, August 22nd | Stop by anytime between 10am - 2pm

📍 Where: Extension Gardens (at the Farm Credit Farmers Market at 3114 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro)

⏱️ A count takes just 15 minutes, and we'll supply all the materials you need!

🏡 Can’t make it in person? No problem! You can conduct a 15-minute count from your own backyard, garden, or local park anytime on Friday, Aug 21 or Saturday, Aug 22 and still help us reach our target!

Check out the hard work these young entomologists in our Mt. Olive 4-H Insect Collection Project have been putting into their displays! 🐞🪲🐜

From precise pinning to identifying orders and writing labels, they are learning real scientific techniques—and their display boxes are coming together beautifully.

We love seeing all the patience, detail, and family teamwork going into these projects! 🦋🍀

🌟 Learning, laughter, and healthy choices!

Our EFNEP Educator, Dinorah Keith wrapped up another fun day of Camp Cook & Play with the children at Bright Beginnings Christian Center – HWY 111. Campers learned about nutritious foods, participated in engaging activities, and discovered simple ways to build healthy habits through play.

We're grateful for the opportunity to connect with local families and help children grow through fun, interactive nutrition education.

🍎🥕 Healthy habits start early!

Our EFNEP Educator, Dinorah Keith, had a wonderful time visiting Bright Beginnings Christian Center – East Ash Street location for Camp Cook & Play. Throughout the week, children explored nutrition, discovered healthy food choices, stayed active through fun games, and enjoyed hands-on learning designed to encourage lifelong healthy habits.

Thank you to Bright Beginnings Christian Center for partnering with Wayne County Cooperative Extension to make learning about health and wellness fun!

Behind every dairy show is months of dedication, preparation, and hard work. 🐄

The Wayne County Dairy Project, hosted in conjunction with Cherry Research Farm, allowed Wayne County 4-H, NC Cooperative Extension youth to showcase not only their dairy cattle but also the skills they've developed throughout the project.

Participants learn proper animal care, responsibility, time management, communication, problem-solving, and sportsmanship—all while building confidence and a strong work ethic.

Projects like these also help young people build communication, leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills that extend far beyond agriculture. Whether they pursue careers in agriculture or another field, the lessons learned through 4-H prepare them for future success.

In this role, you'll work alongside students, families, schools, and community partners to provide mentoring, educational programming, leadership opportunities, college and career exploration, and engaging 4-H experiences that make a lasting impact.
