A huge thank you to Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, Emmaus Baptist Church, and Tehillah Church Ministries for hosting and sponsoring today’s First Responders Appreciation Lunch! 🍔🌭 The thought and sincere prayers mean more to our crews than words can say.

Days like today remind us how strong and supportive our Wayne County community truly is. To all our EMS, fire, and law enforcement personnel working shifts today & everyday; thank you for your dedication, care, and sacrifice.

Today, August 1st, also carries deep weight for our first responder family. Exactly four years ago today, Sgt. Matthew Fishman of the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office gave the ultimate sacrifice while protecting and serving our community. We hold his memory, his family, and his legacy close to our hearts today and every day. We will never forget. 💙🖤

Thank you to everyone who serves, supports, and keeps Wayne County safe!

This morning my partner and I went to Biggby Coffee in Pikeville because they’d recently opened. Excited to try it out! 10/10 recommend! Food and coffee was really good! As we walked in we stepped to the side to figure out what we wanted. The lady pictured below, walked in behind us. Without hesitation, she looked at us and told us she would really like to pay for whatever we were getting. We told her she didn’t have to but we could tell she was very genuine in wanting to, so we let her.

Some might say this can be a thankless job and in all honesty sometimes it is. This is a tough career. There are times when we get to experience full circle moments with former patients or their families or like this morning, a simple act of generosity. Which sets the bar to always be kind no matter the call. You never know what impression you may leave them with.

We are here to do the job and provide the very best of care without expectation. So in the times when we do get to hear thank you or accept your act of generosity, please know how much it truly means to us. We will always do our best to remain humble and kind.

Today was Day 4 of Public Safety Camp! WCEMS had the privilege of showing these boys and girls how to take care of wounds, how to splint, and how to perform CPR.

We got to discuss signs and symptoms of a head injury, importance of splinting, questions to ask patients to determine their level of consciousness and more! They certainly impressed us with the knowledge they already had!

Towards the end, we were able to show off our new ambulance, allowing them to explore equipment and ask a lot of questions! They definitely had questions! Which is the best part of our job, getting to educate and teach kids other career avenues.

Thank you to Josh, one of City of Goldsboro Fire Department’s new recruits, for being our patient!

Yesterday, Wayne County EMS Medic 4 and Engine 5 of Goldsboro Fire Department had the opportunity to hang out with the community at Walmart! A big thank you is in order to Walmart for giving us the opportunity to create a time for a more personal connection with the community, talk about safety, and show off our trucks to the children.
