III Century Singers

III Century Singers - Goldsboro's performing choral ensemble! Concerts each year: Spring (seconed weekend in May); Christmas (second weekend in December)!

In 1976 a wide variety of people to include doctors, lawyers, teachers, housewives, students,and military members gathered together to form a choral group known as the Bicentennial Singers. Under the direction of Roger Searles, the singers presented programs for different functions during the bicentennial year. Thirty-seven years later, this group, now known as the III Century Singers, is still to

gether and presenting concerts. By the end of 1976, these people so enjoyed singing that they wanted to stay together as a group. The problem was name. Since the group was know as the Bicentennial Singers and the bicentennial year was drawing to a close, a name change was needed. Members submitted suggestions and chose the one contributed by George Johnson - III Century Singers. According to Kay Livingston, "We chose the name because we were going into the third century and we knew it would be appropriate." Over the years, the III Century Singers have performed at over two hundred concerts, and over three hundred people have been members. The wholesome spirit of the group and current growth in membership as well as audience, speak well of its contribution to the community. Made up primarily of singers from many local church choirs, we enjoy singing hits from Broadway shows, old standards and popular songs as well as patriotic, folk, and gospel music. III Century Singers has always attracted people who love singing and fellowship. Many have seen the rehearsals as therapeutic and others look on it as the chance to perform a wide variety of music. Membership is open to anyone with talent and desire to audition during the first weeks of each season (January and September). We welcome donations of any amount to support our program. Spread the word, we‘re going to start singing for the 50th year!

We will resume rehearsals on 13 January at 7 PM at First Baptist Church, Goldsboro. This is our 50th year and we would really like to grow our group in celebration. Help us spread the word so that we might grow the chorus like they did when we were founded in 1976.

If you are unable to sing but would like to help plan our anniversary year, please reach out to George or Donna Countryman. if you know a donor that would like to help fund our celebration, contact Ann Burns or myself.

With the spread of flu season, upon us, please use caution in large groups and if you are not feeling 100% well avoid rehearsals. Thank you all for your support and look forward to seeing many of you next week.

Auditions and rehearsals start on 13 January for our 50th year. An excellent way to celebrate the 250th. We were originally formed to celebrate the 200th as the Bicentennial Singers in 1976.

2025 is a wrap!! What a wonderful night of music at Mt. Olive FBC! We had Christmas tonight! Now we're all in the Christmas 'Mood'! A special thank you to the orchestra members who really brightened up the night!

A wonderful concert to end the year at Christmas 2025!!! Today we performed The Many Moods of Christmas at FBC Goldsboro. If you couldn't be there, there's a like event on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 at FBC Mt. Olive. We'd love to share the fruits of our labor with you!! Christmas is upon us!! We invite you to audition with us as we begin our 2025 holiday rehearsals for, The Many Moods of Christmas! If you enjoy traditional Christmas music, you'll love this collection. We rehearse each Tuesday night, 7pm, First Baptist Church, Goldsboro, NC.
