Are you wondering about school supplies for next year? Your student needs a binder/notebook to carry their supplies and a pencil bag. GMS will provide the rest. Backpacks and water bottles are optional and are not provided by the school.

COVID-19 Response – September 2, 2020 In keeping with Goldthwaite CISD’s practices to respond to COVID-19, we are notifying all families and staff that a student who is lab-confirmed to have COVID-19 was present on the campus of Goldthwaite Middle School on Monday, August 31. Due to privacy requirements, we will not be releasing the name of the individual or details that may identify him or her. Working with the Department of State Health Services Region 7, all individuals who came in potential close contact with the individual have been notified. All areas heavily used by the student were closed off and are disinfected before being reopened. While we do not have reason to believe that those who were not in close contact with the infected individual have reason to be concerned, we ask that you, as always, watch for symptoms of COVID-19.

Any of the following symptoms indicate a possible COVID-19 infection.
* Temperature of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or higher when taken by mouth;
* Sore throat;
* New uncontrolled cough that causes difficulty breathing (or, for students with a chronic allergic, asthmatic cough, a change in their cough from baseline):
* Diarrhea, vomiting, or abdominal pain; or * New onset of severe headache, especially with a fever.
If you or any member of the GCISD community begins experiencing any of these symptoms in a way that is not typical, we encourage you to contact your physician. ALL GCISD’s COVID-19 Response updates are sent to all staff members and every GCISD family in our Blackboard messenger system. Updates are then posted on our GCISD website.

Student going home sick or quarantined:

Students transitioning in-and-out of on campus learning is obviously going to be a big part of the rest of this semester. If your child is sent home sick for any reason we are going to do our best to continue teaching them. Below is currently where we are with getting students switched from on-campus to online learning.

Scenario #1

1. We are notified before lunch that a student will be sent home sick and/or tested for COVID reasons.

2. Students will be able to log-in to online classes the following day.

3. We will ask parents to come pick up any necessary work after 3:00 P.M. on the day they are sent home.



Scenario #2

1. We are notified after lunch that a student will be out sick and/or tested for COVID reasons.

2. Students will be able to log-in to online classes the following day.

3. We will ask parents to come pick up any necessary work after 12:00 P.M. the following day.
