Goldvein Volunteer Fire Department

Goldvein Volunteer Fire Department We are a volunteer organization providing fire suppression, hazardous materials response, advanced life support services, and rescue.

In November, 1965, a small group of men met in the basement of Grove Baptist Church to begin the organization of a volunteer fire department to serve the southern end of Fauquier County. On the 20th of April, 1966, a charter and certificate of incorporation was received from the state corporation commission formally recognizing the Goldvein Volunteer Fire Department. For nearly 50 years our depart

ment provided an all volunteer service prior to the addition of daytime staffing assistance by Fauquier County Department of Fire, Rescue, and Emergency Management firefighters/emergency medical technicians. Thanks in part to a federal grant received by Fauquier County in 2022 focusing on adequate staffing, our organization is now able to provide seamless 24/7 fire and emergency medical services utilizing a combination of Fauquier County Department of Fire Rescue and Emergency Management personnel and volunteer staffing to ensure, at a minimum a 4 person staffed - advanced life support fire engine and an advanced level ambulance. Please contact us today to discuss volunteer opportunities with our organization - [email protected] (540) 752 4772 or message us on our page.

Virginia’s spring fire season is here, officially Feb. 15 – April 30. During that time, the statewide burn law is in effect, which prohibits outdoor fires between midnight and 4 p.m. 🔥🚫

Don't be fooled by the snow! Most of Virginia is in a drought caused by months of below-average rainfall. Already this year, DOF has responded to 80 wildfires that have burned nearly 800 acres.

The best ways you can prevent wildfires:
🔥 Wait until after the fire season to burn yard debris
🔥 If you must burn, avoid windy days
🔥 Never leave a fire unattended
🔥 Know the state burn law and local restrictions

Get more tips, and learn about the 4 p.m. burning law on DOF’s website: https://ow.ly/3SsV50Yey8q

Your Local 3762 firefighters have been hard at work over the holidays serving our community 24/7, 365 days a year. In the spirit of giving, we’ve reached out to our local shelter, as well as Child and Adult Protective Services, to learn what items are most needed.

The greatest needs right now are coats, baby bottles, and twin size blankets. Our firefighters are accepting donations at any Fauquier County fire station.

Our firefighters consistently go beyond the call of duty now you can help them continue making a difference in our community

🎉 Congratulations on Your Retirement, Technician Tommy Shiflett! 🎉

Today we celebrate the incredible career of Technician Tommy Shiflett, who officially retires after an extraordinary 51 years of dedicated service to Fauquier County.

Tommy began his fire service journey as a volunteer with the Warrenton Volunteer Fire Company in 1974. In 1984, he launched his career at the Warrenton Training Center, serving with distinction until his first retirement in 2010. Never one to slow down, Tommy began a second career with Fauquier County Fire Rescue that same year—starting part-time, transitioning to full-time, and serving our system proudly right up to today.

Over the decades, Tommy has touched countless lives across the department. Whether through his unmistakable humor, boundless energy, or steady presence, his impact will be felt for years to come. Today truly marks the end of an era.

Technician Thomas Shiflett—you’ve more than earned this moment.
On behalf of the entire Fire Rescue System, thank you for your service and dedication. We wish you a happy, healthy, and well-deserved retirement! 👏🔥
