In this week’s Business Member Spotlight, we’re excited to feature JR Bookkeeping!

We connected with the JR Bookkeeping team to learn more about the company’s inspiring journey, its commitment to supporting entrepreneurs across the Central Coast, and what makes their approach to bookkeeping unique.

Q: Can you share the story behind JR Bookkeeping and what inspired you to start the business?
A: JR Bookkeeping was founded in 2012 by sisters Juliana and Natalia Ramirez with a mission to help small business owners feel confident, organized, and empowered when it comes to their finances. What started in their living room has grown into a trusted bookkeeping and accounting firm serving businesses throughout Ventura County, Santa Barbara County, and beyond.

JR Bookkeeping is a true immigrant success story built on hard work, perseverance, and community impact. Over the years, the company has grown into a team of nine professionals and has employed more than forty individuals, the majority of whom have been women. Several former team members have even gone on to launch bookkeeping businesses of their own.

The firm has been recognized with numerous honors, including Small Business of the Year by Chambers of Commerce in both Ventura and Santa Barbara counties, the Spirit of Community Award from the Pacific Coast Business Times and SBA, and the Workforce Development Board Champion for Prosperity Award for supporting workforce development through job creation.

Q: What does it mean to serve businesses across the California Central Coast, Ventura, Santa Barbara, and beyond?
A: Serving businesses across the California Central Coast means being deeply connected to the entrepreneurs, families, and communities that make this region thrive. JR Bookkeeping proudly supports businesses across a variety of industries, including hospitality, nonprofits, retail, agriculture, construction, and professional services.

Many of the businesses we work with are family-owned or first-generation entrepreneurs who are balancing multiple responsibilities while building sustainable businesses. Because we understand those challenges firsthand, we focus on creating long-term relationships and providing support that goes beyond bookkeeping.

In addition to financial services, JR Bookkeeping actively invests in the community through educational webinars, QuickBooks Online workshops, mentorship, business resource sharing, and bilingual business education programs designed to empower small business owners.

Thank you to JR Bookkeeping for your continued commitment to supporting entrepreneurs and strengthening the Central Coast business community.

Santa Barbara Centennial Award – Santa Barbara Botanic Garden

Santa Barbara Botanic Garden has spent 100 years on the front lines of conservation, protecting and restoring California’s native landscapes and leading the way in climate resilience and environmental science.

As the first botanic garden in the United States dedicated exclusively to native plants, it is safeguarding rare ecosystems, driving groundbreaking research, and inspiring real action that impacts communities far beyond its 78 acres. Its work continues to shape how the South Coast understands, protects, and preserves the natural world we depend on.

This is more than a milestone, it is a call to recognize and support a legacy that directly influences the future of our region and our planet.

This event is sold out.

Live from this month’s B2B at the Santa Barbara Zoo, Kristen Miller talks about what’s coming. As we head into Memorial Day and the kick off to the summer season, we celebrate the hospitality workers who help make Santa Barbara and the South Coast such a welcoming destination. Hospitality is one of our region’s most vital industries, powered by the individuals who create exceptional experiences for the thousands of visitors we welcome each year. Thanks to all of the hardworking people across hotels, restaurants, tourism, events, and guest services who keep our local economy thriving and showcase the warmth and spirit of the South Coast.
