4293 new housing units are in the pipeline for Noleta!
4293.... all packed in between Ward Memorial and Turnpike Road. Imagine the traffic that will bring. Imagine the water they will use.

San Marcos Ranch=956 units
Tatum Project=517 units
5050 Hollister=206 units
Giorgio Orchard=1096 units
Ekwill Project=320 units
Caird Project=1198 units

Who would let this happen? Your County Supervisors. The same Supervisors that say they are staunch environmentalists, but Sacramento just awarded them for being so "Pro-Housing".

Add to that, the 448 units in the pipeline and under construction in the city of Goleta.

That makes 4741 new housing units between Turnpike and Wi******er Canyon.
4741.

And if you think prices will go down when these are all done, you are mistaken. The supply will never meet the demand to live in the best climate in the nation.

Laura Capps, Joan Hartmann and the county supervisors have approved so many housing projects that the Governor is going to give them some more of our tax money.
They were awarded the State of California’s "Prohousing Designation" and awarded $1.25 million to, guess what, Build More Houses!
Santa Barbara County is one of only 10 jurisdictions in the state to earn the designation of "Pro Housing".
So rather than fighting the state and representing the will of the people, they're good little soldiers for Gavin.
We get what we vote for....

Turns out, the people behind the wireless facility that the neighbors all hate, are the same people that almost developed the Ellwood Queen property a while back. Still trying to monetize Goleta and still don't understand, this isn't Orange County!

Construction update--
Heritage Ridge is well underway. The formally "Environmentally Sensitive Habitat Area" is now just a full blown construction site. 332 new rental units will soon be available. Will this be the development that makes living in Goleta more affordable? Or just more crowded...

Why can't they just plant crops at Fairview Gardens? The neighbors dont have a problem with living next to a farm and the city doesn't even have a problem with a farm there. The problem is that the board of directors for Fairview Gardens insist on building employee housing and a live music venue! The neighbors dont want to live by a music venue....
Why not just rent the land out to an existing local farmer and let him get to work? We need to keep this open space. Goleta needs urban farms. Please don't screw this up. Just grow some food! Just keep this little piece of Goleta country. A music venue is not country!

Neighbors are concerned about the safety and appearance of a proposed ATT cellphone tower disguised as a water tower at 290 Ellwood Canyon Road. The story poles are intimidating at 50 feet high, even though the zoned height limits are 35 feet.
The property is on the city of Goleta's Historic Resources list.

BRAVO to the Goleta Design Review Board for standing up to these developers from Irvine. While the scope of what the board can do is limited, they aren't just rubberstamping these hideous projects. The sheer size of this housing project is overwhelming, in an area that has always been commercial. (Restaurants and then a motorcycle shop). Why is it that the 3 story high barn design seems to be the new standard for Goleta?

Some shortsighted folks are trying to make Nimby a bad word. The reason we have any open space left to even consider developing is because of Nimbys. If you ever enjoy any parks or open space in Goleta, you should thank a Nimby. Goleta is still a Good Land thanks to Nimbys.

Developers and the chamber of commerce are Yimbys. Shortsighted people who think housing prices will drop if we develop every square inch are Yimbys.

The atached photos are of Nimbys.
