Happy Cinco de Mayo! 🪅

Last weekend, we celebrated the Mexican victory at the Battle of Puebla with a variety of programs highlighting Mexican and Tejano culture. It was a fun and festive day honoring the blend of traditions and the shared history between Texas and Mexico.

Visitors learned about the history of piñatas—once used as religious symbols representing blind faith, overcoming sin, and being rewarded with gifts from above. We also enjoyed Nachos for “Nacho,” where we explored the origins of the nickname Nacho and talked about this beloved Tex‑Mex classic. To top it all off, guests played Goliad‑themed Lotería, a traditional Mexican game, designed just for the park!

We’re grateful to everyone who joined us in celebrating the rich cultural heritage that shapes our community. We hope to see you at our next program!
