Ready to dance like the King of Pop?

Learn some of Michael Jackson’s most iconic moves and dance along to snippets from “Beat It,” “Bad,” and other famous songs! Local choreographer Brian L. Watson II of Hip Hop X Dance Studio will lead this high-energy class at our Galvez location.

Come dressed in something comfortable that lets you move, learn the moves, and then show them off to your friends and family!

America has a soundtrack. What does it sound like?

Take a musical journey through American history with Andrew Fath at our Gonzales location every Tuesday at 6:00pm from September 8 through October 13. This six-part lecture series will explore the songs, sounds, and musical movements that have reflected and influenced American culture and identity.

From jazz and protest songs to hip-hop and patriotic anthems, each session will pair guided listening with discussion about the history behind the music.

This project is a recipient of the 2026 Parish America 250 Mini Grant. Funding has been provided by the State of Louisiana and administered by the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities in partnership with the Louisiana Office of the Lieutenant Governor and the America 250 Louisiana State Commission.

September is National Library Card Sign-Up Month, and we’re celebrating with a new special edition library card!

Available exclusively at our Dutchtown location, the vibrant Louisiana-inspired design features artwork by Ascension Parish artist and author Malaika Favorite.

Already have a library card? Update it to the new design when you visit Dutchtown!

You can also find a special edition card at the St. Amant Library, with another coming soon to Donaldsonville. Each card features artwork by a local artist and celebrates what makes Ascension Parish unique.

Through our partnership with Ascension Public Schools, every student and teacher has an Education eCard with 24/7 access to ebooks, audiobooks, research databases, homework help and more.

Use myapl + your school ID number as your eCard number (example: myapl12345) and your school ID number as your PIN.
