I am the youngest of four children of Willard and Ruby Cointment. Theresa of Avila School in the heart of Gonzales. My first job was as a rodman in my father’s company, working summers, surveying properties throughout Ascension Parish. Working in the business, I came to understand what it meant to work hard and get the job done. I graduated from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, with a deg
ree in general studies. I continued my education at Nicholls State University and obtained my professional surveyors license. Following in my father’s footsteps, I acquired the family business in 2007 and I am proud to say that my company is closing in on 9,000 jobs completed. There is hardly a single parcel of land in this parish that my company is not familiar with. Owning my own business has made me aware of the rigors and responsibilities that come with it. But most importantly, it has opened my eyes to the issues we face in local government. As a surveyor it has been my pleasure to be of service to many property owners in Ascension Parish. Going through the process of assisting parents wanting to give their children a piece of property has been rewarding and sometimes challenging. Sadly, this basic right of the property owner has become complicated through over regulation. My wife Stacy and I have three great kids, two growing boys and a sweet little girl. Watching them grow has been a blessing. We do our best to instill good moral character and strong ethics in our children, so they can face whatever comes their way. We let them know that life is not always easy and you have to work hard for what you want or believe in. Some of the most memorable childhood experiences I recall are attending Ducks Unlimited banquets with my parents, and hunting all over Ascension Parish. Though the landmarks of my past have changed, Ascension Parish will always be my home.
