Weather Alert: Summer School Canceled Thursday, June 18

Due to the potential impacts from Tropical Storm Arthur, which could bring significant rainfall, gusty winds, and localized flooding to our area, Ascension Public Schools will cancel all summer school classes on Thursday, June 18, 2026.

In addition, all schools and district offices will be closed with no activities allowed. Twelve-month employees will remain on call as needed to support district operations.

The safety of our students, employees, and families remains our top priority. We encourage everyone to monitor local weather forecasts and use caution when traveling, especially in areas prone to flooding.

We will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates if necessary through our official communication channels and on our website, AscensionSchools.org.

🌀 Hurricane Preparedness: Review Your Insurance Coverage

One of the most important steps you can take before a storm is understanding your insurance coverage. After a hurricane, knowing what's covered—and what isn't—can make the recovery process much smoother.

When reviewing your homeowners insurance policy, consider the following:

• What damage does my policy cover?
• Do I have enough coverage to fully rebuild my home if it is severely damaged?
• Are detached structures, such as sheds, fences, or workshops, included in my coverage?
• What is my standard deductible?
• Does my policy include a separate hurricane deductible?

It's also important to remember that flood insurance is not included in most homeowners insurance policies. A separate flood insurance policy is required for flood-related damage.

Did you know? Flood insurance policies typically have a 30-day waiting period before coverage takes effect. Do NOT wait until a storm is in the forecast—it may be too late.

Taking time to review your policies now can help ensure you're financially prepared before severe weather threatens our area.
