September is National Su***de Prevention Month.

This year’s theme, “Stronger Together: Connect. Support. Prevent.”, reminds us that su***de prevention is not one moment or one person’s responsibility. It is found in the connections we build, the support we offer, and the communities we create together.

Whether at home, at work, in our schools, or among friends and neighbors, we all have a role to play. Checking in on someone, listening without judgment, knowing where to turn for help, and reminding others that support is available can make a meaningful difference.

Throughout September, we encourage our Ascension Parish community to help strengthen the connections that protect people before a crisis occurs, create spaces where people feel safe asking for help, and continue supporting those who are healing and recovering.

If you or someone you know is struggling, help is available:

Call or text 988 to reach the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline, available 24/7.
For Ascension Parish Government employees: The Employee Assistance Program confidential hotline is available 24 hours a day at 800-622-7276.

Sometimes support begins with something as simple as reaching out and reminding someone that they don’t have to face a difficult moment alone.

This September and throughout the year, let’s be Stronger Together: Connect. Support. Prevent.
