Notice of Allegations of Safety Threats

Parents and community members, we would like to thank you for your support and assistance as we respond to allegations of safety threats. There are many rumors of a school shooting or threats of a school shooting taking place at Gonzales Junior High today, January 18, 2019. Please be advised that there has been NO school shooting. At any time the Gonzales ISD receives even the slightest indication of a safety issue we take action to investigate and find no evidence to substantiate today's comments.

We additionally use these opportunities to employ our routine drill and practices relative to safety. Your awareness of heightened police officer, administrator and faculty monitoring is part of that response. We thank our community responders for ensuring increased support in this situation. As always, we appreciate the cooperation and understanding of parents, students, Gonzales ISD staff, and community members, as well as the understanding of adhering to legalities of any investigation. A special thanks to our Gonzales Junior High School students for their flexibility in completing further drills in safety practices.

Consequences to responsible parties of any threat on any GISD campus are handled according GISD District Policy and Code of Conduct. As always, we will closely follow our emergency operations plan to ensure the safety of our students and staff. Thank you for your support of Gonzales ISD.
