Imagine having to dedicate a team to deal with threats against Virginians from the president of the United States. But here we are. Grateful we have an Attorney General who's standing up for us.

Keep our countryside quiet.
We’re not in Cumberland to listen to industrial noise 24/7. Many of us are here because we don’t prefer the racket of the big city. Dominion’s proposed gas power plant would bring a constant, rumbling hum that would be audible not just in Cumberland, but across county lines.
A sound modeling report filed with the County indicates that the plant would have 119 pieces of equipment each emitting over 100 dB of noise. This would result in 75 dB of round-the-clock noise around the facility, which is louder than a busy freeway.
Constant industrial noise is harmful to humans and wildlife alike. Is this what we want Cumberland to sound like?

Info below thanks to Democrat Delegate May Nivar's office (Del Nivar represents 3 precincts in Goochland)

The General Assembly’s Joint Subcommittee on Tax Policy will meet Wednesday, August 19, at 1:00 p.m. in the House Appropriations Committee Room on the 12th floor of the General Assembly Building in Richmond. The meeting will also be livestreamed.

This is the committee directed by the state budget to conduct the broader 2026 study of data centers, including Virginia’s tax incentives, environmental and quality-of-life impacts, approaches taken by other states, siting and investment in less urbanized areas, and potential ways to generate additional state revenue from the industry. Its recommendations are due later this year in November.

Wednesday’s agenda includes an overview of the data center study and recent budget actions, a discussion of the sales-and-use tax exemption, a presentation from DEQ on air, water, and noise regulation, and an overview from the State Corporation Commission of the new data center electricity consumption tax.
