GHSFPD is pleased to announce it has been awarded a $11000 Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) 50/50 Equipment Grant. The grant will assist the department in purchasing essential firefighting equipment, including a roof saw, thermal imaging camera, portable water tank, holly transfer pipe and Rogue Hooks. These tools will enhance firefighter safety, improve operational effectiveness, and strengthen the department’s ability to respond to emergencies throughout the community. The department appreciates the support provided through the IDNR grant program and its continued investment in local emergency services.

GHSFPD is pleased to announce that it has been awarded an OSFM Small Equipment Grant in the amount of $26,000. The grant funds will be used to purchase new battery-powered extrication equipment, providing firefighters with modern tools to enhance rescue operations and improve response capabilities.

The department has been aggressively pursuing grant opportunities to help fund critical equipment and training needs. By securing outside funding whenever possible, we are committed to being good stewards of taxpayer dollars while continuing to improve the services and resources available to protect our community. This investment will strengthen our ability to safely and efficiently perform vehicle extrications and ensure our personnel have the tools needed to respond when emergencies occur.

GHSFPD is proud to introduce the newest addition to our fleet, Squad 6.

This vehicle will primarily serve as an EMR Quick Response Vehicle, allowing our personnel to respond rapidly to medical emergencies and provide critical care when every second counts.

We are especially honored to share that Squad 6 was purchased entirely through memorial donations. We are deeply grateful for the generosity and support of those who chose to honor their loved ones by contributing to our department. Their lasting legacy will help us serve and protect our community for years to come.
