Gooding Fire has had a very busy week. Started off Monday night with the passing of thunderstorms. With the storms came abundant lightning which ignited multiple fires in the Bell Rapids area. We responded to help our neighbor’s in Bliss on a brush fire.
Early Wednesday afternoon Gooding crews, along with Hagerman Fire, responded to assist on a structure fire in Bliss.
While that fire was being fought we were alerted of semi on fire at MM 155 on Hwy 26. When crews got on scene not only was the semi on fire but we also had a brush fire on both sides of the highway. BLM was notified and sent what they could but due to other fires they were only able to send limited resources. Incident command called mutual aid from Wendell Fire, Hagerman Fire and Jerome Rural Fire. The brush fires and semi were brought under control in about an hour.
As we were clearing from that incident, BLM was requesting assistance in Ritchfield on the Wildhorse fire. We sent one Type 4 brush truck to assist.
I would like to give a huge shout out to all the firefighters who answered the calls to help our community and our neighboring communities. Their heart and dedication does not go unnoticed! 🚒
