Gooding Fire has had a very busy week. Started off Monday night with the passing of thunderstorms. With the storms came abundant lightning which ignited multiple fires in the Bell Rapids area. We responded to help our neighbor’s in Bliss on a brush fire.

Early Wednesday afternoon Gooding crews, along with Hagerman Fire, responded to assist on a structure fire in Bliss.

While that fire was being fought we were alerted of semi on fire at MM 155 on Hwy 26. When crews got on scene not only was the semi on fire but we also had a brush fire on both sides of the highway. BLM was notified and sent what they could but due to other fires they were only able to send limited resources. Incident command called mutual aid from Wendell Fire, Hagerman Fire and Jerome Rural Fire. The brush fires and semi were brought under control in about an hour.

As we were clearing from that incident, BLM was requesting assistance in Ritchfield on the Wildhorse fire. We sent one Type 4 brush truck to assist.

I would like to give a huge shout out to all the firefighters who answered the calls to help our community and our neighboring communities. Their heart and dedication does not go unnoticed! 🚒

This morning at 0846 hours we responded to a brush fire north of town on BLM ground. When fire command got on scene the fire was approximately 2 acres in tall sage and cheat grass slowly spreading to the east and the west. The first engine was able to stop fire progression and keep it at 2 acres. 2 more engines arrived on scene and got the area mopped up. BLM did arrive on scene after the fire was contained. Great work by our crews for a quick stop!

At 10:32 this morning, we were paged to a brush fire north east of town. Initial crews on scene found a fire burning on private ground and was encroaching on BLM land. Within a couple minutes the fire had moved onto BLM ground in tall mature sage brush. Incident command called for mutual aid from Wendell and Bliss to assist, along with BLM. Before BLM crews arrived Gooding and Wendell crews were about to get all the way around the fire and and kept it to just over 5 acres. Crews remained on scene for four hours mopping up hot spots. The fire starting from an arking line from a power pole. Big thank you to Wendell and Bliss Fire and to our crew for an aggressive inital attack and keeping the fire small!
