Last night this group of Firefighters completed the final tasks in a 6-month journey! These dedicated recruits demonstrated the skill, teamwork, and determination it takes to proudly serve Sherman County and keep our hometown safe. From deploying ladders to advanced hose line operations and Live Burn training, they tackled every challenge safely and together. We’re proud of their commitment to the mission and the community they protect.

Kansas Task Force 7 members from Sherman County Fire District 1 and Northwest Kansas Ambulance Service- Sherman County had an awesome training opportunity last weekend. Members worked with staff from the US National Weather Service Goodland Kansas to preplan and train for the rescue of a victim from the Doppler radar. Getting to train in non traditional environments helps team members to develop critical thinking skills and rigging techniques to overcome the various locations and challenges they may be faced with!

Engineer / Paramedic Saffer and Firefighter / EMT Allen are currently enroute to Liberal Kansas to assist with fires in Southwest Kansas. They are responding with Brush 3 a type 6 engine and are prepared for a 3 day assignment! Safe travels gentlemen!

The Sherman County Rural Fire Fundraiser Committee (SCRFFC) would like to thank all of the sponsors/donors as well as everyone who purchased tickets during the Flatlander’s Raffle!! We were able to meet our goal for new Nomex hoods and equipment for the Fire Department!! Thanks to all of you our firefighters will have safer gear and for that we are greatly appreciative! We would also like to give a special thanks to Black Hills Energy for their generous contribution to assist with purchasing of new protective equipment!! Thank you all and we hope to see you at our next fundraising event!
